Sewing my first pencil skirt to match my top.

Today I finally got on the machine to sew something. The summer holiday is usually a long one and I was becoming bored at home. I had told my sister that I feel like I can do well with baking seeing how people mix different Ingredients for their baking. Myself and my friend often eat a lot or doughnuts in school and I was hoping that I can use my summer holiday to learn how to bake

Having begged my sister to enrol me in a baking school we had gone round to check a few school only to realize that the fees for learning the skill was too high. My sister cannot afford that for now knowing that September comes with a lot of financial responsibility where she will have to pay a huge amount of money for my school fees.

I never liked sewing but just too keep away boredome I decided to try.
My sister is a seamstress and I have learnt how to paddle the machine from her for a long time now but I never see anything since I didn't know how to cut.
Today I have been reading a novel all day. And when I got tired I took a paper and began to ask my sister how to draw a pencil skirt
This thing looks simpler than I thought.

I love architecture in school and drawing this was like a work of architecture I was able to draw a pencil skirt of my size.
I took a satin fabric, placed the paper on it and cut out the skirt

Since I can paddle machine very well was easy to join the the front and back of the skirt on the machine.

The blue satin was not enough so I decided to pair this with a white and see if the combination of the two colors will be good for a skirt.

I used the white to cut and sew a band which I attached to the shirt.
Fixing the zipper was the hardest part for me.

I took the remaining white satin and added it to the front of my skirt.
I am so happy to sew a pencil skirt for myself for the first time.
I can't wait for school resumption to show my friends what I have sewn

So beautiful
I love your sewing process and the finishing
Wow this fits perfectly and colourfully
You did great.
You can always play around the sewing machine and at the end of the holiday season you may be shocked by how far you have gone in sewing
Your skirt looks really nice.
It is so beautiful and stylish. It is well fitted and nicely designed. Thank you for your comment.

Came out so beautiful, fit well too and the white satin gave it a pop.
Learning a skill at a very young age is very important. We are glad that you are learning how to sew. Keep up the good work and cheers to many firsts😃
