A Better Show

         As the college football season winds down, here are my thoughts before the national championship game between Michigan and Washington. It would be cool to see Pac-12 getting a national title before the conference dies. Alas, I don't have a preference.

         This year's semi-final games are what high-level plays should be. Both matchups were close and boiled down to few key plays that decided victory or defeat. I am glad Alabama got humbled once again. I bet many people felt the same way.

         On the other hand, I was disappointed that Penn State lost their bowl game. Ole Miss proved that they were the better team. The Nittany Lions are not the top 10 team their ranking suggests. Top 25? Sure. There's always next year.

         Remember how Florida State cried foul when they didn't make it to the Playoff? I sympathized with them until their pathetic showing against Georgia at the Orange Bowl. The selection committee must feel pretty smart about their decision by this point.

         If I were the Seminoles, I would stay in the ACC instead of leaving the conference. They are better off cheesing their way into the 12-team Playoff by being the ACC champion starting next year than to be a mediocre team in another P4 Conference. ACC is the weakest of the major conferences this season. Look at how the ACC runner-up Louisville got dismantled by USC in the Holiday Bowl.

         The only other consolation I have for this bowl season is Utah lost to Northwestern (again). The Utes haven't won a single bowl game since 2017 despite taking the Pac-12 crown in recent years. Unfortunately, they will be in the Big 12 next year. I hope BYU gives them a run for their money then.
