My Little Town
Many of you play DCity already. If you haven't, check out @dcitygame to learn more about this laid back game. I have a little town of under 300 people at the time of this writing. I haven't focused much on it until recently. By focus, I meant I spent a little more time than usual buying cards and rearranging things.
I treat DCity like a form of bonsai on Hive. It can get expensive and yield little to no returns if you are casual. At the same time, it's something to do with your HIVE and/or Hive Engine tokens. Most of all, it makes me spend time on Hive, doing something other than voting and reading.
Some token owners may see DCity as a mean to promote their tokens. But, let me tell you something. If your tribe/token has no utility to begin with, there's very little point in having it on DCity. It'd be another pump and dump asset.
Rewards
The top players in the game can get a lot of free goodies a day, but the returns can take a while. Depending on how much money you put in the game, plus your ranking, your return may never manifest. If there was a "pay to win" game, this is it.
I don't know which one takes longer. Is it @steembasicincome or @dcitygame?
My personal philosophy is that if you are playing a game for ROI, you are doing something wrong. You aren't enjoying yourself. It would be like comparing yourself to e-sport players. They are top players who sometimes make hundreds of thousands, even millions, a year.
More features to come?
You know what would be nice? Being able to have custom display names for your city. wink wink
Of course, that's only for display, not changing what the ids are on the chain.
Final thoughts
My verdict on this game? Don't play it for the ROI. You'll not have a good time unless you manage to get to the top.
On that note, what should I name my little town?

Alright, I'll bite...
What did I just spend 20 hive on?
Your own little village!
Pathetic
He's got that military industrial complex though.
Yep he could sell the MIC and roll another 8-10 cards... unless he thinks one of the high tax candidates will win the elections.
On the open market, with those cards you could resell them and make a really decent profit!
Certain cards are definitely more lucrative than others.
Pueblo Colmena
Would that be too generic?
¿Piensas crecer?, ahora si te mantienes como pueblo pequeño propongo: Pueblo Pequeña Colmena, si te fijas la estructura que muestras es casi que la interna de una colmena.
Fair point.
Oh great... I am doomed!!! Resist the urge...I must resist...
Abandon hope.
Name it gaben
... then it will keep getting bigger
I think the joke went over my head.
I don't know why you don't play Splinterlands, I know you're an ex-Magic freak like me. It's the safe option, tried and tested, the only one that's not gone boom.
I’m afraid of the addiction.
Beyond the daily quests, I don't play, it's not compelling enough. You are missing out.
You are tempting me.
Do it, I will see you on the battlefield. Use your shit-tokens, trade them for DEC, buy cards.
Yes! dcity is very chill for me aswell!
The tax system is awesome, but slower growth :p
I need a stragety at some point, not what to do, I just buy cards when I have enough sim tokens xD
I think @ecoinstant may have some of those strategies.
Thanks!
Consider our best strategy for small accounts!
Thanks! I will read it later! :D
I found out Dcity a few days ago. I thought we gonna have a virtual ancapistan but there's taxes :D and the first building I got was police station haha
There’s also election. And we have brought the meme “baby man bad” to life.
oh and do we earn hive playing that game? I am still new to this thing.
You can if you sell the SIM tokens, cards, or be in the top 200.
ooh alright ! looks like it's P2W
Which I already said in my post.
Playing game for roi reduces the fun
Yeah, but some roll that way.
I still haven't circled back around it this game yet. I just can't bring myself to spend more money on a dapp right now. That is cool that you can still play it casual though. My intense gaming days are well behind me now, so I am all about casual!
I hear ya. I try to be careful with the spending on games cause I know it gets out of hand at times.
That reminds me, Steam is doing their Summer sale right now... :)
Even if I don't buy games, I might wind up leveling up for no reason instead.
It's the curse of Gabe. It's still upon me.
This is what I've been telling people when they complain about in-game changes (like taxes) destroying their 'investment'. It's a game. Play as a game and you'll have more fun.
I thought it was kinda funny the way people reacted.
I just started over the weekend. Almost top 100 haha
Are you having fun?
It's been enjoyable. I'm impressed with the game
