Sometimes lucky
Remember when Coinbase announced the Doge sweepstake at the beginning of June? Yeah, the one where the confirmation emails seemed to have trouble arriving in your inbox? Well, looks like we finally see the end of it.
As luck would have it, I happened to have won $100. Unfortunately, I'm sure the taxman is going to take a huge chunk of it. At the same time, it's another $100 of capital to put into something else. Since it's Coinbase we are talking about, I headed over to the app to make sure the winnings were in my account.
So, the money is already in my account...in Doge. All I had to do was converting those Doge into another asset. I decided to convert that $100 into ADA and further increase my stake.
If my recollection is correct, Coinbase was handing out 6000 $100 prizes, 10 $10K prizes, and a grand prize of $300K. It makes you wonder who won that jackpot. Even if you pay maximum short-term capital gain tax in the US, it's still a nice payday.
Anyways, sometimes lucky. I'll take what I can get.

When those double payouts on comments go live, we will get a little bump in excitement.
All stake less than 250k hp will have an exponential tax curve taken off of them effectively doubling the stake for a large percentage of them.
Accounts with 125k hp will only get a 50% bump in payouts.
That's going to be most of us.
I'm expecting a 40% gain.

I figured it didn’t hurt to try. The worst case scenario was to convert it into something else when I was done.
Have you decided whether or not you will keep DOGE or convert it into some other token?

Already converted like I wrote.
Might pick up Doge again in the depth of the bear market.

Are you staking ADA? I put a little in back at the beginning of the year. I started to realize the money would have been much better spent here investing in HIVE. If ADA hit's $10 after smart contracts go live I'll change my tune.

Yeah, I'm staking ADA.
I've been buying it since 2018. So, the returns is much greater than most other coins out there.
Oh ya. Even if you got in 6 months ago you'd be happy, the problem is the % per epoch. I guess if you have a big enough portfolio then the diversification aspect of it is good. ADA has held out much better than most coins since Elon tanked the market.
I'm honestly looking forward to them launching smart contracts, etc. in a month or two. I'm hoping they got everything right and can give ETH a run for their money.
I'm betting on Cardano being one of the major smart contract platforms down the road along with ETH, DOT, and SOL.
So, we shall see how that bet turns out.
