The Crisis Continues

avatar

Over the weekend, I'm sure most of you have seen the ongoing riots. There's no need to dive into the cause and reasons behind them. You've most likely heard of it all.

My first thought of receiving the emergency broadcast is mild annoyance. It's not like I don't sympathize with the racial problems that occur in the country that I live in. Let's be honest, every country has those issues, it's only more sensationalized here.

As a health professional, the first thought was how the riots will further the COVID crisis. They undermined all the measures we have taken to curb the spread of the virus. Not only that, but with all the economic backlashes and tragedies intact.

My fellow healthcare workers, do you feel your efforts are in vain? Some hailed us as heroes, but what did we accomplish in the end?

You have saved them only to have them go out en masse in the name of "justice". Of which, everyone suffered except for big corporations and government. The small guys that survived are now destroyed by those branding the banner of "justice".

How many are genuine and how many are hyenas with secret agendas? How does it feel to have "contact tracing" used in a possible police state like manner?

The curfew won't solve the problem. It only delays the inevitable. Imagine what happens when the unemployment benefit doesn't get extension? We would be in a depression, at best. The civil unrest could very well lead down to another civil war. But, who are the sides this time?

The year 2020 has revealed the weaknesses of our society. The riots are but one of the social ramifications many of us have feared during the lockdowns. They are reflections of the ongoing issues in the country we live in.

         What does that mean?

Whatever reason people join the riots or support the cause, it all comes down to one thing:

People no longer believe the current system has any efficacy on change.

And before anyone says "Bitcoin fixes this", it doesn't. It's a piece of the puzzle.

When the system cannot hold bad actors accountable, it loses efficacy and trust. If I were to make big enough mistakes in my line of work, I can kiss my career goodbye. Unfortunately, that is not the case with certain lines of work.

I'm curious to see how the society will (d)evolve from this point forward.

In other news, remember the guy with the bow and arrows? He made reoccurring appearances. This time he has a knife!

Here's the tweet where the picture came from. People have dubbed him RamBoomer. I'm sure you can all search him up if you wanted to learn more.

Nobody ever got to say thanks for trying to save my life, before they passed. I'm sure they would if they could though.

Huge problems that are coming up, I am watching a live in Paris where they are demonstrating for black rights, but more generally for respect for human rights.
The nativesof the Amazon are all dying from the covid and nobody cares.
Instead of moderating it, Trump is turning it on even more, even the Houston police chief told him that if he has nothing good to say, he better close his mouth.
Here in Italy thousands of sovereign and fascist demonstrators without masks cause another catastrophe and our democracy allows it to do so.
The redistribution of wealth is only a chimera and I do not believe that a peaceful solution will be reached, but I hope so.

If not protest like in the U.S, it was this Muslim festival in Indonesia where people gather and ignoring the covid19. The result is as expected, spiking in number of cases. The healthcare got fed-up and they started protesting by doing #whatever. So maybe just maybe, people don't care anymore of their life and others.

That just sounds tragic when healthcare workers go “f this”.

I am a bit sad with the situation in the US. Small groups (from both sides) make it looking bad... very bad... An innocent victims are always the first to fall. The story of the human being... :(

Yup. It's hard trying to find a positive spin on things.

I was thinking the same thing the other day when we were watching the footage from Santa Monica and they were showing the large groups of people very close to each other with no masks on at all. I am usually in bed by like 7 each night anyway, so bring on the curfew! :)
