Thoughts going into the holidays

I remember seeing that reply from Hive Buzz two months ago. I thought about writing about it, then I forgot. That's what happens when things get busy in Q4 of each year.

It's somewhat surreal to me that the chain has minted over 18K HIVE to me since 2018. What started out as exploring a whole new ecosystem winded up being a productive hobby. If anything, it feels like time well-spent. Okay, "well" might be a bit over the top, but it was better than sitting around doing nothing.

At the time of posting (~$1.58), 18K HIVE is about $28K. Some might be looking at my wallet and wondering why I only have 21K HP at this moment. The answer is simple, I put them into various projects on Hive. I also did put a portion of my powered down STEEM into other cryptos when the fork happened.

For the most part, Hive Engine captured much of those other rewards. These include Tribe tokens, dividend tokens, games, and whatnot. My layer 2 holdings outvalue my layer 1 HP and HBD holdings by a mile.

Bottom line is, you don't have to be a content creator to build your wealth here. Plenty of folks do well or better on layer 2 than layer 1.

I am rather fortunate that I haven't had the need to liquidate my Hive assets. This allowed me to accumulate stuff here and there. Of course, the most challenging part of any project is having the liquidity. So, that portfolio value might not be accurate.

When it comes to liquidation, people's mileage differ. Some people need to cover their expenses. Let's be honest, fiat is still the easiest way to pay your bills. Some people shuffle between assets. Some others wait in stable coins or fiat before buying the dip.

There's no right or wrong in the listed examples above. Once the tokens are in their wallet, they can do as they wish.

So, if you stick around, find something you can spend time enjoy doing. Not everyone needs to be a content creator here. As the metaverse continues to develop, I hope people can see beyond the base layer shitposting and be more imaginative.

Hive, like other chains, may not seem like a metaverse to you, but it functionally is. There's just no visual representations of you jumping between dapps and into different activities. Whether they be on-chain, cross-chain, or whatever, the multiverse will only get bigger as time go on.

All the drama that we experience now won't mean a thing when proper incentives are in place. Once people find things they enjoy doing instead trying to be who they aren't, it will be a happier place. Heck, if you don't like doing anything, there are still passive ways to earn (like HBD) in this space.

Take care folks. I'm gonna go try and finish prepping for the holidays.

Have a nice holiday. I am also quite fortunate as I haven't had to liquidate anything and I am just building my account. I like the growth I have seen just by being active.

Wow, what a great accomplishment for you! Congrats on that. It is easy to over look some of those HiveBuzz posts, but they do have some really interesting statistics from time to time.

Yeah, they can reveal some surprising stats sometimes. Other times, they are just meh.

This phrase makes me smile (Heck, if you don't like doing anything, there are still passive ways to win (like HBD) in this space) I am a very active man, my vacation is in 10 days, I plan to relax, but I will definitely continue publishing and generating in this panel

Have a great holiday season Enforcer48. And have yourself a Happy New Year too while you're at it. Was 48 a choice? Not EnforcerSupreme or MegaEnforcer? Just kidding, but kind of not, at the same time, if that's not weird. I really had problems with those commas for a bit.

Let's be honest, fiat is still the easiest way to pay your bills.

In many places, this is still the only way. Still a long way to go!

Anyways, happy holidays!

That's some cool stuff. I am going to be dabbing more in the other tokens on Hive as well. I would like to see what can be done with the STEM token.

Have a great holiday!

I would like to see what can be done with the STEM token.

Well, aside from being the tribe token for https://stemgeeks.net/, it's used in https://apemining.club/, a game made by @blockheadgames, which is owned by @themarkymark.

Here are the Discord links:

Yeah, I have some and knew it was Marky's deal. However, I don't know if anyone else is using for anything, like taking it for payment. I am planning on accepting it for payment on my website when it goes live.

Wondering if we could rally those on Hive in the STEM community to start utilizing it more as a form of payment for their products and services if they provide any.

Ooh? That should be very interesting.

Looking forward to see how you implement it.

Oh, I am just using the payment processor Hivepay.io. It's something @jongolson and @blainjones came up with. It allows you to accept payment in Hive, BD, and other Hive Engine tokens. However, I think it will only work with the membership site script LFM.

Cool, that is why I tagged you. I only had the page for LFM bookmarked so that is what I had top of mind. Wanna make sure they get it from the horses mouth.
