๐ŸปMama Bear? How About Mama Wolf!๐Ÿ•ท

avatar

Spider, that is. I happened across this gigantic (for Tennessee) 3 inch mama wolf spider while taking the dogs for a walk last night. It was right at dusk, so flash was enabled and if you look closely, you'll see tiny flecks of glitter on Big Mama's back. But that's not glitter. It's a thousand tiny eyes of her 'wolf pack'. I never knew they carried their young and cared until a few years ago when I saw a fuzzy one and touched it. The fuzz dispersed and an army of minimamas took to the battlefield. I love spiders. 2 HIVE for any spider picture you took this year in the comments.

Thatโ€™s straight up from the depth of bad dreams! But also very inspiring. Mother Nature kicks ass!

That is quite the colorful little critter hey! We have some similar ones here like that that will make webs in corners and grab whatever comes their way. ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜™๐Ÿค—

Holy wowser! Easily overlooked by the camouflage colorings @enginewitty

I never knew the female wolf spider took all of her babies everywhere with her in this manner.
Pretty impressive maternal instincts! As for your touching one?! Yikes! Did the babies return onto the female wolf spider's back?

Here's the only spider photo I took this year. This one was non threatening so I wasn't afraid to pull out my smartphone and take it's photo! ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐Ÿ•ธ๏ธ๐Ÿ“ท

Cool photo, especially since you took it at dusk, with failing light & a flash! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

I took the below photos back in May of this year, but haven't shared them yet because I'm not exactly sure which of four different species this one might be!

Gonna lean on a sac spider. The abdomen looks pretty keen to that but whether it's long legged or yellow IDK. They come in tons of colors like jumping spiders.

I don't think I've any Spider piks in my phone, oh well.

Be cool if they were just a tad more intelligent and we could train them to eat unwanted picnic pesties๐Ÿ˜‹
