Intro

Music is our daily companion. Almost all of my friends and relatives I have seen are sensitive to some form of music. Some prefer very loud sounds and rock music while others prefer soft type of music. Whatever it is, everyone has an attraction towards music. I am no exception and I had a lot of weaknesses towards music which I am going to share in this community today. This week’s topic has been awesome for me because I have a desire to share many music experiences and thus got the opportunity.

Music at school

When I went to school in my student life at a very young age, I did not understand much about music but when patriotic songs were played on various occasions, I felt very delighted. Those who know about Bangladesh know that during the war of independence of Bangladesh, the freedom fighters were inspired and enlivened by performing songs from a radio station called Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra. And the language of all those songs was so strong that it could easily inspire any ordinary person. These patriotic songs were sung on various national days like Independence Day or Victory Day in the student life. And every time I listen to each of these songs, I get excited and a different kind of excitement and excitement is created. In my student life I used to try to memorize songs and listen to them over and over again even though I didn't have a music player at hand. Sometimes I would listen attentively to the preaching on TV and it was a good memory. Another interesting thing about school life is that we had a tape recorder and a radio. One of my favorite habits was to solve various mathematical problems by playing music. Whenever I sat down to solve a mathematical problem, I used to play songs and solve all the mathematical problems very well and happily. It was a fun thing. It varies from person to person. But in my case, it worked very well.

Music at College

Later in college life I started to get an idea about band music through friends. That was in 2005. That time can be called the golden age of Bangladesh band music. Bands and rock artists released many albums every month. And many of the songs from these albums were very hit then and were played repeatedly in different locations in the neighborhood. From that time I felt weakness towards band music.

MUSIC at UNIVERSITY (My golden era of Music)

Later, when I was studying in the university, FM radio appeared and multimedia player with music player came into the hands of people in Bangladesh. During this time, it became very easy to listen to music. So, the songs of the band of the old days and the contemporary times could be easily loaded on the mobile. Memory cards had very little circulation. However, the 512Mb memory card had a much higher capacity for that time. So, I would select and load all those songs on the memory card on my mobile. Prometheus, Souls, LRB, Arc, Nagarbaul, Dalchhut, Shironamhin, Chandrabindu etc. are some of the popular bands of that time. The songs of all these bands were very hit at that time. Each album had 10 to 12 songs and 4/5 songs from each album could easily be very hit.

I always listened to lyrics of music and gave less priority to the music of the song. The tone of the soft music sounded good. I listened to the songs with a lot of emphasis on the words. When I bought a mobile in University life, I was able to load my favorite songs on my mobile phone. However, different strategies had to be adopted to collect those songs. Some from friends, some from the internet, some from mobile shops, some from visiting a relative's house. I used to listen to these songs every day. There was a time when every music tone of the song automatically memorized by me. In this way, after listening to the song for about 3/4 years, the number of memorizing songs went closer to 3/5 hundred. This shows how much music I have listened to in my student life.

Trend has changed within short time

Most of the songs I used to listen were about Bangla bands. Some of the more popular songs by some popular artists were included. However, in all cases, I always gave priority to the song lyrics. But with the change of era, came the modern technology i.e. CD player from tape recorder, multimedia card from CD player and YouTube version from multimedia card. As a result, as soon as a song was released, it started going online and the artists stopped releasing their albums. The album doesn't come out now but a couple of songs are released online from time to time. So that golden age disappeared in by 6-7 years. However, all that music has taken place in the hearts of people even today. The music of that time has a lot of views on YouTube because people are old but they want to listen to all the previous songs.

My tonic towards music

I had these habits till my working life, but after coming to work, my interest in music gradually diminished. In varsity life, I listened to not only Bengali songs but also various Hindi and English versions. In this case, what works like a tonic in my case is that some songs have to become nostalgic when they are heard in Bengali, Hindi or English. Yet listening to all those songs creates a kind of motivation and an interest in doing something in life. In other words, when I get tired of working in life, my mind gets better when I listen to my favorite music and lyrics. So, this is what I do when I am exhausted in a frustrated and tired time or if I am actually bored with life.

Finally

One of the main reasons why music is not listened to at present is religious sentiment. I am a full-fledged employee and a worldly man. Nowadays maybe once a month or once in 3/4 months I listen to my favorite songs and go back to the past. Sounds good. I find the meaning of life. I learned to love life through music. Our student life artists have gifted many good Bengali (My native) songs. Many of them (singers) have died. But the memories of listening to those songs of the past are still fresh to me.
