Drawing a Maiko (Apprentice Geisha) - Chibi art (ENG/ESP)

A Maiko is a Geisha apprentice, according to the tradition of the western world, they are women who represent the culture and art for this they receive studies throughout their lives.
While they are learning, they receive the name of Maiko, although they keep many secrets to know only what is their apprenticeship and what they are dedicated to, Japanese culture has allowed us to know part of it, because we are all intrigued to know about these elegant women with so much makeup on their faces, who walk and move as if they were floating like a flower petal.
Part of their learning and mission is to be experts in music, art, dance, poetry and the most outstanding tradition of serving tea. They have so much to learn that they start their training at a very young age.

Una Maiko es una aprendiz de Geisha, según la tradición del mundo occidental, son mujeres que representan la cultura y el arte para ello reciben estudios a lo largo de su vida.
Mientras están aprendiendo, reciben el nombre de Maiko, aunque guardan muchos secretos a saber solo lo que es su aprendizaje y a lo que se dedican, la cultura japonesa nos ha permitido saber parte de ello, pues a todos nos intriga saber sobre esas mujeres elegantes con tanto maquillaje en el rostro, que caminan y se mueven como si flotaran como un pétalo de flor.
Parte de su aprendizaje y misión es ser expertas en música, arte, baile, poesía y la tradición más resaltante como servir el té. Tanto tienen que aprender, que ingresan desde muy niñas a su formación.
I've always talked about my fixation with the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha" and a lot is said about them, but not much is said about part of their process and the name they get "Maiko."
Although it seems that they dress the same, they have their differences, because the geisha are more elegant and more polished, the learning process can be very exhausting, not all of them get to obtain the title of "Geisha", being then a maiko a very inferior category for which she must earn with much sacrifice and perseverance the title, during this process they are servants of their school.
Among the differences found in the maiko's clothing is that they wear a simpler kimono but with very bright colors and lots of prints, in addition to this the inner part of it is red, while the geisha wear dark colors in the kimono and the inner part is white.
As for the hair, a maiko usually wears many ornaments in it, while the geisha just a barrette, the maiko's makeup are simpler and leave uncovered part of the neck and finally as for the shoes, they use wooden platforms, you really wonder how you can walk with that without falling? While the geisha already wear more comfortable shoes and sandals with more comfortable platforms.
This culture will always inspire me, so I made my version of a maiko, I hope you like it.
Siempre he hablado sobre mi fijación con la película "Memorias de una geisha" y mucho se habla sobre las mismas, pero no se habla mucho de parte de su proceso y el nombre que recibe "Maiko"
Aunque pareciera que se visten igual, tienen sus diferencias, pues las geishas son más elegantes y mas pulidas, puede ser muy desgastante el proceso de aprendizaje, no todas llegan a obtener el título de "Geisha", siendo entonces una maiko una categoría muy inferior por lo cual debe ganarse con mucho sacrificio y constancia el título, durante ese proceso vienen siendo sirvientas de su escuela.
Entre las diferencias que se encuentran en la vestimenta de las maikos es que llevan un kimono más sencillo aunque con colores muy llamativos y mucho estampado, además de esto la parte interna del mismo, es de color rojo; mientras que las geishas usan colores oscuros en el kimono y en la parte interna de color blanco.
En cuanto al cabello, una maiko suele llevar muchos adornos en el mismo, mientras que las geishas tan solo un pasador, el maquillaje de las maikos son más sencillos y dejan al descubierto parte de la nuca y finalmente en cuanto al calzado, estas usan unas plataformas de madera, que realmente te preguntas ¿Cómo puede caminar con eso sin caerse? Mientras que las geishas ya usan calzado más cómodo y sandalias con plataformas más cómodas.
Esta cultura siempre me inspirará, así que hice mi versión de una maiko, espero les guste.

The sketch was really a headache and many times I got lost of the idea that I was doing, finally erasing the lines that confused me, the idea took shape.

The line art was no exception, as the shape of her hair is really quirky.
El line art no fue la excepción, pues la forma de su cabello es realmente estrafalaria.
I tried to follow the colors and traditions of it, so I took a few color samples to carry it out.
Traté de seguir los colores y tradiciones del mismo, por lo tanto, tomé unas cuantas muestras de color para poderlo llevar a cabo.
To do the hair details was a headache, I really didn't know how to achieve it, so I decided to make it very simple by applying airbrushing and highlights in my old style.
Para hacer los detalles del cabello fue un dolor de cabeza, realmente no sabía cómo lograrlo, así que decidí hacerlo muy sencillo aplicando aerografía y luces a mi viejo estilo.
I loved her expressive eyes, I took my time making them.
Adoré sus ojos expresivos, me tomé mi tiempo en hacerlos.
The rest was a simpler process, applying shadows and highlights with airbrushing and using my custom brushes to create effects.
El resto fue un proceso más sencillo, aplicando sombras y luces con aerografía y usando mis pinceles personalizados para crear efectos.
As you can see, I made sure that this maiko has a lot of ornaments on her head, she is learning as I am about the art world, meanwhile, we enjoy the whole process very much.
Como ven, me encargué que esta maiko tuviera muchos adornos en la cabeza, ella está aprendiendo como yo sobre el mundo del arte, mientras tanto, disfrutamos mucho de todo el proceso.
