Greetings community! After some frustrated drawings, it took me days to make this design, it was worth the wait, here I tell you part of my inspiration.

¡Saludos comunidad!

Origins

Our roots, where I have come from, where we have come from, is a daily theme for me, because it helps me to keep my feet on the ground and avoid airs and graces, which can be pedantic and unpleasant for many people.

Remembering in a humble way where we come from, from our beginnings, when we had nothing, will help us to cushion the lows, those moments when we lose something, when things don't work out well, in this way, personally, it helps me to overcome any frustration.

I remember my parents, they told me their story a lot, it seemed fantastic to me in those times, because their journey seemed to be taken out of a book, today, that I have had the chance to live part of their story in adulthood, I appreciate how difficult it was to get ahead in a country that is not where they were born, They ventured to look for better opportunities with the vision of giving a better future to their children. They tell me that the Second World War affected Madeira - Portugal very much, together with other uncles of mine they came to Venezuela, since the economic situation was more stable here.

My parents told me about the hardships they went through, hunger and needs in their country, when they arrived here, with a great desire to work and emerge, from sunrise to sunset without rest between the two of them they managed to create what I call an empire, because it was the most beautiful thing I could live in those times.

In spite of the economic ups and downs in Venezuela due to the negligence of the governments in power, my parents never left Venezuela, they traveled very sporadically to visit their relatives in Portugal as long as the economy allowed them to do so. On their last trip, it was a courtesy of the Portuguese consulate, so that my father could visit his parents in Madeira in his last days.

With my mother's illness and then the hardships we have gone through these last 10 years in Venezuela, the consulate decided to pick up some Portuguese and send them to their country, my mothers and I enjoyed that free privilege, but when I asked her what she wanted, I still remember her words and her little watery eyes telling me: - Daughter, Venezuela is my country, I don't want to leave.

Staying meant many things, her dialysis treatment was extremely limited, she preferred to stay, and all I had to do was fight for her life tooth and nail, without realizing that I was going to be the spokesperson of the cry of the renal patients of that time, Wow! If I told you, you would not believe me, but on the internet, a lot of information abounds. Of course, the government silenced me and kept quiet about many things. But I did not give up, my mother was my strength, and together with four people we managed to be heard, after the mobilization of many patients, the treatment began to arrive for each one, two years after so much struggle. My mother's strength, her will to live was my lighthouse.

My parents made me love two countries, two totally different cultures, I feel I have a beautiful bond, they left me great teachings and a good example of struggle. When I enjoy abundance I can't stop remembering the times I couldn't eat food and I feel deeply grateful.

When I look back I can only give thanks for so much. When I look at what I have achieved I can only give thanks and keep fighting, keep asking to be well so I can repay the blessings that the universe has given me.

Remembering my origins, my ancestors, the history of Madeira-Portugal and the history of Venezuela, only shows me that I should feel proud of what I represent, where I come from and where I am going.

Step by step / Paso a paso

Step 1️⃣ / Paso 1️⃣

Sketch and base color are the first steps, hoping that the background color does not hinder my design, I consider that I was a little worried, but I like that palette.

I started with the face makeup, very easy, just play with shading and light, here I used airbrushing.

Then I try to recreate fabric texture on the hair ornaments, it was a little complicated, but in the end it was achieved on a plaid fabric, the brushes used, Pencil, acrylic and airbrush.

The next step the application of skin shading, the brushes used are acrylic and watercolor, they give it that painted look I want, they help to blend the color.

Step 2️⃣ / Paso 2️⃣

It is necessary to insist a lot with the watercolor brush to achieve the integration of the colors, it needs many passes, from time to time I need to hide the layer of the sketch, otherwise I do not see where I am going.

After that I apply the base color of the lips, I make the border of the eyes and I start applying the shape of the eyes, to be able to continue blurring the details of the face.

I needed to add a detail on her neck as a decoration or accessory, I had in mind a teardrop.

Step 3️⃣ / Paso 3️⃣

I edited the eyes, I thought that if I made them bigger they would look better, that was after the first day's break, then I applied makeup to blur those fishy eyelashes (that's what my painting teacher used to call them). Without forgetting the white sparkles in the eyes, the light is what will enhance their expression even more.

Moving on to the lips, it's a very simple way of working, airbrush and dark light for shading.

Although I had in mind a very complex work I decided not to work extreme to extreme the details, leave the imperfections, otherwise I would ruin that aspect that I intend to achieve as real acrylic paints.

For the gem I used textures, my husband suggested some things to achieve a ruby look, I insisted that I wanted a teardrop but he explained that it could look prettier if I applied cut stone details and so it was, he was right, because I liked the effect.

After seeing my work so beautiful, I was afraid of ruining it with the hair, I felt insecure, but I chose to relax and let the mess reign in the hair, in the end I laughed a lot, I think it is one of the best hair I have drawn and which did not take me much time or effort to recreate. Of course, the brush I made, my hair brush, is a marvel.

Finally I add simple details to the shirt and with that I finish the design.

I hope you like it, I enjoyed it very much in spite of the days I spent on it, it gives me deep satisfaction in every aspect.

Blessings to all of you.
