Eden | Drawing with the Note 10+

Today is different.

I mean, I got into a routine since the pandemic started, broke it somehow, then created a new routine that I'm following now (trying to follow -- kind of failing miserably, but still trying). But today is different because unlike the last few days when I shared old incomplete artworks that I finally managed to finish, I am now sharing a brand spanking new one.

Like, I just decided earlier today that oh, I really want to draw something that hasn't sat in my MediBang gallery for, I dunno, months? So I kind of sort of ditched work ("What work?"), grabbed my phone and the S-pen, and began drawing.

No. I mean, I searched for something to draw first. Today's artwork is based off this Pinterest, and I kind of messed up the eyes... I certainly did, because she doesn't look half much like the referenced woman. Sad, but I want to practice my digital painting, so I decided to screw it.

Welcome to Eden

Uh, this isn't Eden. And I don't even know who the woman is. But... Y'know, for some reason, the ambience reminds me of someplace soft, too. And maybe even ethereal. So I think calling this Eden somewhat fits.

(I once again based the title to today's post and artwork on a Japanese song. Today's song is called Eden by Monkey Majik. It's the ending song to Fruits Basket reboot anime season 2.)

Eden is a speed painting. Given this fact, I wonder if anyone can guess how long the painting part took (minus the sketching). As earlier mentioned, I think I messed up the eyes on this one. She now looks like a mix of TWICE's Nayeon, Tzuyu, and Mina. I just cannot unsee. If you knew these girls I mentioned, then look at my final drawing, then you'll probably see the similarity. 😅

I'm just so in love with golden colors - sunset, sunrise, sepia. I almost automatically navigate towards references with similar theme, hence today's drawing. I still have some few similar references saved, so you might expect drawings like this in the future.

I can't say for sure that I got my "drawing groove" back, but I'm trying. My motivation right now is at an all time high since 2021 started (I'm not even kidding) soooo hopefully you'll hear from me often this December.

Anyway, I keep ranting. Back to the drawing: Above is the progress shots in a GIF. I used MediBang once again, just the watercolor brush, and used overlay layers for the lighting. Again, I had to adjust colors with Snapseed so the colors fit the ambience I'm looking for.

Notes

While my "drawing groove" is slowly getting back, I'm beginning to start having my writer's block. And that is bad, because I'm in the middle of writing a research paper due the end of December. I'm: doomed. I think being doomed is my fate since time immemorial. I need to escape it somehow.

EDIT: I forgot to add a title lmao.
