She's not a joke | Drawing with the Note 10+

I think I just went through a roller coaster of... mood? emotions? stress? over the last month. It was crazy. I didn't think I'd survive the month without losing it, but I'm here, sane, having successfully gone through the month.

Again, I don't think I'm back in the art scene for good, but I've been managing to find some extra free time lately as a result of what I went through last month. LOL. I would have loved to share what happened, but it's too personal and uninteresting probably to other people. Just know that I have a few short free time right now, and I got to whip this artwork up.

This artwork is an entry to ArtPark's Emoji to OC challenge on noise.cash. The goal is to create a character out of random emoji prompts. This challenge's emojis were: 🤡 👍 🐝

And because it had been a long time since I last shared anything here as well as tokenize an artwork, I decided to participate and turn it into something I could be a little proud of.

She's not a joke.

She's spontaneous, weird, and maybe a little crazy, but she's not a joke. And that's why she can't be brought down. They are assets, and they made her beautiful.

The artwork

I feel like I'd forgotten how to draw as I had not been drawing as often as I used to. There was honestly a lot of apprehension as I drew, although I eventually had fun because the Emoji-to-OC challenge was supposed to make the artist have freedom and fun.

I wasn't really able to conceptualize this work. I initially planned to, but I was already not quite feeling up to it (I had just come from vaccination and was pretty much lethargic about everything) and spontaneously working on it seemed to make the challenge even more challenging. I first considered doing the thumbs up pose, but thought that many people would do that, too. I didn't want to join the ship, so I instead had her almost thumb-suck LOL.

I would have stopped there, but it wouldn't feel like my work if I didn't add some element of juxtaposition or even surrealism. So I cracked her head -- for a lack of better words -- and shoved tiny wildflowers in her skull. 😅 Kidding aside, it just felt right at the moment, so I did it.

I don't think my lack of practice changed the way I did things in my drawing. Maybe I got a little bolder about how I paint on limited layers now, but aside from that, nothing much changed. I still preferred soft painting, and would usually adjust the colors on Photoshop when it felt too unsaturated and dull (sometimes I overdo it, but I think this one was just right).

I initially opted for an orange (and maybe even red) flower, but it looked so out of place (or just generally steals the attention too much) that I had to change to yellow. Yellow is a color that I normally find difficult to work with, but I think I did all right here. What do you think?

Notes

The thing is, I just want to draw a lot. But sometimes it's difficult and I end up just sleeping. At any rate, I recompiled my drawings over the last ten years and just got motivated to draw again, although not as motivated as I was last year. xD I also did a digital art check that included drawings from ten years ago. I was pretty bad, wasn't I? xD
