Reseña: Casa de Tierra y Sangre // Review: House of Earth and Blood

¡Hola amigos lectores! Hoy les traigo una reseña muy especial porque se trata de una relectura, pero como no llegue a reseñarlo acá aprovecho la ocasión para hacerlo, ya que considero que es una lectura más que interesante para los amantes de la fantasía. El libro del que les estoy hablando se llama Casa de Tierra y Sangre y es el primer libro de una saga llamada Ciudad Medialuna de la autora Sarah J. Maas.

Hello fellow readers! Today I bring you a very special review because it is a re-reading, but as I didn't get to review it here I take the opportunity to do it, because I think it is a very interesting read for fantasy lovers. The book I am talking about is called House of Earth and Blood and it is the first book of a serie called Crescent City by the author Sarah J. Maas.

Esta saga es una mezcla de mundos y seres de fantasía, la autora se destaca por escribir sobre faes (hadas), y acá hay desde metamorfos, hasta vampiros, tritones, brujas, espectros, ángeles y arcángeles, además de todo tipo de demonios y seres del inframundo. Realmente me estoy quedando corta con la cantidad de criaturas que aparecen en esta historia. Ciudad Medialuna comprende un vasto mundo dominado por unos seres supremos que se llaman asteris y tienen un poder considerable, cada región está gobernada por un arcángel que vendrían a ser los que le siguen en la línea de poder. Las casas son 4, lo que significa que probablemente sean 4 libros porque este es sobre la casa de tierra y sangre, y el segundo es de la casa de cielo y aliento. En cada una de estas habitan seres diferentes.

This serie is a mixture of fantasy worlds and beings, the author is known for writing about faes (fairies), and here there are from shapeshifters, to vampires, tritons, witches, wraiths, angels and archangels, plus all kinds of demons and underworld beings. I'm really getting a bit short on the number of creatures that appear in this story. Crescent City comprises a vast world dominated by supreme beings who are called asteris and have considerable power, each region is ruled by an archangel who would be the next in line of power. The houses are 4, which means that they are probably 4 books because this one is about the house of earth and blood, and the second one is about the house of heaven and breath. Different beings inhabit each of these.

La protagonista principal es Bryce Quinlan, una humana mitad hada, ella es hija de una humana con un hada pura (y no cualquier hada, pero aja, averígüenlo ustedes). Al ser una mestiza es humillada ocasionalmente por los de sangre pura y es temida por los humanos, así que se encuentra en un limbo. Además es bastante problemática. Su mejor amiga es Danika Fendyr, la mujer lobo más poderosa de toda la ciudad y la próxima líder de su raza. Sin embargo, un día en el que Bryce está de fiesta, Danika y su jauría es atacada por una especie de demonio no identificado y terminan masacrados. A partir de ese momento la vida de Bryce cambia por completo.

The main protagonist is Bryce Quinlan, a half-fairy human, she is the daughter of a human with a pure fairy (and not just any fairy, but aha, you figure it out). Being a half-breed she is occasionally humiliated by purebloods and is feared by humans, so she is in limbo. She is also quite a troublemaker. Her best friend is Danika Fendyr, the most powerful werewolf in the entire city and the next leader of her race. However, one day when Bryce is out partying, Danika and her pack are attacked by some kind of unidentified demon and end up slaughtered. From that moment on, Bryce's life changes completely.

Después de dos años de esta tragedia el mismo demonio volvió a atacar, y Bryce es requerida por el arcángel Micah para que investigue quién podría ser el asesino que está invocando a esta criatura porque al parecer tiene relación con su amiga Danika, para ello le asigna como compañero a su asesino personal, Hunt Athalar, un ángel que es esclavo por participar de una guerra que se llevo muchas vidas hace 200 años atrás. Ahora Bryce y Hunt van a tener que aprender a trabajar juntos y sanar sus propias heridas mientras están en ello, pero a medida que se van acercando a la verdad el peligro y la muerte los acecha.

Two years after this tragedy the same demon attacked again, and Bryce is asked by the archangel Micah to investigate who could be the murderer who is summoning this creature because it seems to be related to her friend Danika, for this he assigns as his companion his personal assassin, Hunt Athalar, an angel who is enslaved for participating in a war that took many lives 200 years ago. Now Bryce and Hunt will have to learn to work together and heal their own wounds while they are at it, but as they get closer to the truth, danger and death stalk them.

Reseña - Review

Voy a tratar de ser lo más breve posible porque el libro es un cascote de 1000 páginas, así que hay varias cosas para decir.

I will try to be as brief as possible because the book is a 1000 page tome, so there are several things to say.

El principio es muy denso y confuso por la cantidad de información que da de entrada, no te alcanza la mente para absorberlo todo y está es la causa principal por la que muchos no siguen con la lectura. Bryce es una protagonista muy ocurrente que hace bastante amena la lectura, lo que si no es la única protagonista, ya que el libro cambia de narrador, unas veces es Hunt y otras Ruhn, este último es el príncipe heredero de las hadas.

The beginning is very dense and confusing because of the amount of information that is given at the beginning, your mind is not enough to absorb it all and this is the main reason why many do not continue with the reading. Bryce is a very witty protagonist that makes the reading quite enjoyable, but she is not the only protagonist, since the book changes narrator, sometimes it is Hunt and other times Ruhn, the latter is the crown prince of the fairies.

La historia y los personajes logran atraparte por completo. Les puedo decir que disfruté está relectura tanto como la primera y hasta diría que la sufrí más. Hay unas escenas hacía el final, unas 200 páginas antes de que termine, donde todo se va a la mierda y te tiran una bomba tras otra. En una de ellas pasan dos hechos que me hicieron llorar bastante, a pesar de estar preparada lo volví a sufrir. Así que quedan advertidos.

The story and the characters manage to grab you completely. I can tell you that I enjoyed this re-reading as much as the first one and I would even say that I suffered more. There are some scenes towards the end, about 200 pages before it ends, where everything goes to shit and you get one bombshell after another. In one of them two events happen that made me cry a lot, even though I was prepared I suffered it again. So be warned.

Me encanta la pluma de esta autora, tiene un don para crear estos mundos de fantasía, aunque también hay que tenerle miedo porque no le tiembla el pulso para hacer sufrir a sus lectores jajaja.

I love the pen of this author, she has a gift for creating these fantasy worlds, although you also have to be afraid of her because her pulse does not tremble to make her readers suffer hahaha.

El motivo de la relectura fue para tener la historia fresca para poder leer el segundo y al final me puse a leer otro libro que nada que ver, pero necesitaba un descanso de esta historia. Luego de mi lectura actual lo retomaré. Hay solo 2 publicados, el tercero creo que sale el año que viene, no estoy segura, y como les decía, en principio serán 4 libros. El segundo es tan largo como este y ya me advirtieron que me va a hacer sufrir también, claro que sí. Estoy deseando leerlo (?

The reason for the reread was to have the story fresh so I could read the second one and in the end I got around to reading another book that nothing to do with it, but I needed a break from this story. After my current reading I will pick it up again. There are only 2 published, the third one I think is coming out next year, I'm not sure, and as I was telling you, it will be 4 books in principle. The second one is as long as this one and I've already been warned that it's going to make me suffer too, of course it will. I can't wait to read it (?

Es una historia que una vez que te acostumbras a ella y el entorno te sumerge por completo en sus páginas, es absorbente. Cada capítulo termina con alguna información nueva que te hace querer seguir leyendo el que sigue. Se van a encontrar con varias escenas épicas, una de mis favoritas es cuando Bryce descubre quien es el asesino y lo que hace con él. Nunca vi ni leí algo así, fue espectacular jajajaja. Te amo Bryce, y por supuesto, también amamos a Hunt, y a mi preciosa Lehabah ❤️.

It is a story that once you get used to it and the setting completely immerses you in its pages, it is absorbing. Each chapter ends with some new information that makes you want to keep reading the next one. You are going to encounter several epic scenes, one of my favorites is when Bryce finds out who the killer is and what he does with him. I've never seen or read anything like that, it was spectacular hahahaha. I love you Bryce, and of course, we also love Hunt, and my precious Lehabah ❤️.

¿Les recomiendo está saga? Sí, completamente. Con los ojos cerrados. Si les gusta la fantasía tienen que leer esta historia. Así que está más que recomendada por mi parte. Si ya la conocen o si la leyeron, me encantaría saber su opinión.
