Review: Rilla of Ingleside [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos lectores! Espero que se encuentren todos muy bien. Hoy les traigo la reseña del último libro de la saga de Ana la de Tejas Verdes.

Hello fellow readers! I hope you are all feeling great. Today I bring you the review of the latest book in Anne of Green Gables series.

Hace unos meses les hablé de esta saga de libros de manera general para no ir reseñando cada uno de ellos. Pero siento que este último lo merece y ahora les voy a contar el motivo.

A few months ago I told you about this book serie in a general way so as not to review each one of them. But I feel that this last one deserves it and now I am going to tell you why.

Trama - Plot

Rilla la de Ingleside es el único libro de esta saga que ya no está narrado por Ana, sino por su hija. Luego de haber seguido la vida de esta niña huérfana hasta conseguir una familia y un hogar, verla estudiar y recibirse, enamorarse y casarse con el hombre de sus sueños con el que tuvo 7 hijos, ahora la dejamos descansar para que la historia sea contada por su hija menor.

Rilla of Ingleside is the only book in this serie that is no longer narrated by Anne, but by her daughter. After having followed the life of this orphan girl until she got a family and a home, saw her study and graduate, fall in love and marry the man of her dreams with whom she had 7 children, now we let her rest so that the story is told by her youngest daughter.

Lo que sucede con este libro es que nos introduce en lo que fue la Primera Guerra Mundial y los horrores que trajo. Pero no desde el punto de vista de los que estuvieron al frente, sino desde la mirada de una jovencita de 15 años que tuvo que crecer de golpe y de todas las mujeres que tuvieron que ver partir a alguno de sus hombres a la guerra, ya sea esposos o hijos. Este libro fue uno de los primeros en relatar cómo las mujeres vivieron aquellos años tan amargos y crueles.

What happens with this book is that it introduces us to the First World War and the horrors it brought. But not from the point of view of those who were at the front, but from the point of view of a 15 year old girl who had to grow up all of a sudden and of all the women who had to see some of their men go off to war, whether husbands or sons. This book was one of the first to tell how women lived through those bitter and cruel years.

Reseña - Review

No hablaré mucho de la historia porque al ser el último libro de una saga de 7 puede haber muchos spoilers. Así que solo les diré lo qué me pareció. Este, junto con el primero, son mis libros favoritos de esta saga. De verdad, no creí que iba a ser tan bueno este último libro y lo digo con pesar porque también me hizo sufrir más que ninguno.

I won't talk much about the story because being the last book of a 7 book serie there might be a lot of spoilers. So I'll just tell you what I thought of it. This, along with the first one, are my favorite books of this serie. I really didn't think this last book was going to be so good and I say that with regret because it also made me suffer more than any other.

Al principio es un poco fastidioso de leer porque no es agradable la narración de otra protagonista y mucho menos de Rilla que parece ser una muchacha malcriada, egocéntrica y vanidosa. Pero a medida que avanza la historia va a sufrir un cambio muy grande. Es la madurez de aquellos años que la atravesaron, fue bastante notorio el cambio capítulo tras capítulo.

At the beginning it is a little annoying to read because it is not pleasant the narration of another protagonist and much less of Rilla who seems to be a spoiled, self-centered and vain girl. But as the story progresses she will undergo a very big change. It is the maturity of those years that went through her, the change was quite noticeable chapter after chapter.

También fue un libro bastante triste por las cosas que pasaban y uno no podía hacer nada más que seguir avanzando. A pesar de todo, se las arregló para hacerme reír en algunas ocasiones. Lo bueno es que no hay mal que dure cien años y al final todo se fue acomodando. Aunque ya sabemos que hay cosas que nunca se olvidan. Este libro es una mezcla entre ficción y realidad, los hechos son reales, lo que no es real son los personajes que aparecen en ellos, pero a la vez sí lo son porque podría haberle pasado algo similar a cualquiera en aquellos tiempos.

It was also a pretty sad book because of the things that were going on and one could do nothing but keep moving forward. Still, it managed to make me laugh at times. The good thing is that there is no evil that lasts a hundred years and in the end everything fell into place. Although we all know that some things are never forgotten. This book is a mix between fiction and reality, the facts are real, what is not real are the characters that appear in them, but at the same time they are real because something similar could have happened to anyone in those times.

Además está historia lo tiene todo, es como la vida misma. La llevaré conmigo siempre, fue muy lindo leerla. Y aunque al final haya habido tragedia también hubo esperanza y victoria. Es una saga que se las recomiendo mucho.

Besides, this story has everything, it's like life itself. I will carry it with me always, it was very nice to read it. And although there was tragedy at the end, there was also hope and victory. It is a serie that I highly recommend.
