A Fun Event For Kids

(Edited)

Yesterday I wrote a post about the market organized with the occasion of a cultural festival. You can check it out here.

With this occasion, there were a lot of activities specially dedicated to kinds and children of all age. Activities that can capture the attention of any kid, due to the uniqueness of it. The usual, well known toys have no place here, as those are already boring, so the organizers came up with some very cool ideas.

20230825_122937a.jpg

There was this man, creating huge soap bubbles. I don't know if he was part of the plan, or he just went there to have some fun, or create fun for the kids. In any case, this little girl had the fun of her life chasing bubbles. What surprised me the most was how she approached the situation. When she saw the bubbles, the fist thing she did was to ask if she can burst them. It was very polite of her as others would have started to crush the bubbles without thinking twice, let alone ask for permission.

20230825_122938a.jpg

She already had her face painted, so imagine this was some extra fun for her.

20230825_122940a.jpg
Watching the kids chasing bubbles was a fun activity already itself.

20230825_122932a.jpg

I've never captured soap bubbles (although I've been planning to buy a device to have some fun), so this was new to me, but since these were huge, I don't think I had a hard job. Now I'm not saying these shots are perfect as at some point I was almost covered with soap as the man was coming towards me and I had to take a few steps back quickly, without knowing what's behind me or where I am stepping.

20230825_122935a.jpg

So now I was a cheap plastic toy that allows me to make bubbles. I had a few when I was a kid, but that was ages ago.

20230825_123416a.jpg

As I stepped inside the area, saw right away that it's going to be a lot of fun. There were people, especially kids everywhere, despite the heat. The truth is, there are tall trees everywhere, so you can stay in the shade and relax if you like.

20230825_123431a.jpg

I loved this banner for several reasons. This is Zalán Green, the mascot of the festival. The text says, quoting:

Zalán knows good people don't throw garbage all over the place and the rest is not allowed.

This is really funny and a fun way to let kids know throwing garbage away is not an option. The banner says Be a Zalán Green yourself! You'll see there were garbage bags everywhere, to avoid making a mess.

20230825_124642a.jpg

Most likely you are wondering what on earth that bike is, why it has a radio on it. Wait, it's possible it's a cassette player or how was it called (was ages ago)? Anyway, let me explain. For the simplicity of the example, let's call it radio. So here's how the radio worked. There was no electricity or bluetooth connection, the radio started to play music, when the kid started to pedal. The speed of the music depended on the speed of pedaling. Imagine the fun these kids had. This kid in blue T-shirt pedaled 10 minutes or so, till his mother could finally convince him to let other kids pedal too. He was a bit too old for that bike but was also with special needs, so who can blame him.

20230825_124533a.jpg

That white bike with the rear tire missing for example had some orange light lit up around the wheel when someone pedaled. Unfortunately I couldn't capture it as I got a call that I had to take and by the time I finished, the kid was gone.

20230825_124608a.jpg

This was another cool game. There was that circle attached to a string, with a ball inside and the string was moved by the pedaling. I don't know which was the end goal, to get the ball in those holes, or on the contrary, avoid the holes and get the ball to the top. Each game had a description, but I did not read any, didn't want to bother the crowd.

20230825_124630a.jpg

Another cool one. Here there was an engine attached to the pedals and a pipe attached to the engine. The engine blew the air in that vertical tube, which lifted the ball inside. The faster the kid pedaled, the higher the ball went.

The truth is, they are going to learn about what they did that day at physics classes later at school and will be easier for them to understand what's happening as they already saw it. I hope they won't forget this experience. Parents were explaining them the idea behind it and there were the descriptions too to help.

20230825_125849a.jpg

A different one, but just as interesting as the others. That phone on the bile was connected to another. The girl pedaling gave the impulse to the other phone and they could talk. This is actually a very nice way to show kids what those old phones with a crank worked.

These kids had a lot of fun for sure. They were running around, trying out each bike to see what it does.

20230825_124731a.jpg

There were other activities as well, like walking on those pillows and colored rugs, coloring, painting and playing with different toys.

20230825_124929a.jpg

This was the place for crafting, which is very important at that age. Show them how it's done and they can learn something that an give them a living. Not to mention developing their creativity, bring out their hidden talent.

20230825_124937a.jpg

This lady was teaching kids felting. If you don't know what felting is or how it's done, you can check this video out, to have an idea. This is something I would like to try out one day. You can create so many beautiful things. I see felt designs at the craft market all the time and there are a lot of tutorials online.

20230825_125015a.jpg

These kids were taught how to use straw to create different straw objects.

20230825_125037a.jpg

This scene made me smile. These two little ladies were weaving and making yarn. I wanted to go closer to take a better photo, but the lady on the right was giving an interview on camera and I preferred to not disturb them.

20230825_125051a.jpg

Here kids and parents were singing folk songs, accompanied with a live orchestra made of twp musicians.

20230825_125201a.jpg

Then there were these wooden games, but sadly, no one was playing.

20230825_125443a.jpg

20230825_125444a.jpg

A misunderstood game and a big slingshot. The kid should have done the jumping barefoot as that was the idea, but most likely no one told him. The slingshot seemed to b very interesting as there was a waiting lie :)

The best part in all this was that it was totally free. You didn't have to pay an entry fee or to try out the games.

There were companies offering free health services, like blood pressure check, diabetes test and so on.

It was a fun day with a lot of excitement, especially for kids.

How wonderfully put together. In this age of phones and tablets, it is very exciting to see children try and figure out these simple physical games that have a larger real life impact..even if they figure it out later in school.

I remember playing with those plastic bubble makers when I was a kid too. But saying "that was ages ago" makes me feel like I'm super old 😆

Indeed, you are right, in this age of phones and tablets, it's great to have such an event and trust me, kids loved it. It was not only fun, but educational as well.

Shhh, you're not allowed to say that as I'm older than you 🤣. But even so, I'm going to buy a soap bubble blower anyway!!! 😂 Maybe do a photo shoot about the bubbles 😏

Erika how wonderful to meet again with so many games that I had fun with as a child, We used slingshots a lot at my grandmother's house to get down the iguanas from the mango bushes there were too many, I also played "Step" that of jumping barefoot, from time to time I find one on the way I jump on one foot, and I advance on the board on the floor haha, the wooden games and their crossroads, the soap bubbles, I still do them at Christmas with my husband and in each one, I put a wish while I blow it through the hoop, and thank you a thousand for bringing a smile to my soul with this post.

By the way, the weather looks great, sunny and very pleasant for you. I even felt some heat while doing the tour from your gaze.

Lol, we used to slingshot at each other when I was a kid as there was a so called war in the neighborhood 😂. That jumping game was popular here too. We used to draw the frame on the asphalt and play.

The weather was sunny and may look great, but there were 35°C, which is considered heat wave, but kids did not mind at all, they were having fun.

lol, I can imagine the fun of the kids in that beautiful park, the dream of children and adults like us, who have that spirit of playing, enjoying, and being happy even when the situations are not the best.

I know what that game is called in your country, here we call it in Spanish "Pisé". Have the best Tuesday possible friend

I've never heard of "Pisé", but good to know. We're learning something every day on Hive.

Have a nice day as well 🌷

Wow what a great place for kids to have fun and learn somethings. I have a lot of memories blowing bubbles. I never seen ones as large as the ones you shown. I can just imagine how fun that would have been to pop it, speaking from a much younger versions of myself 😁 I like the radio bike that would have been fun taking down a steep hill getting the pedals to go really fast. You got me thinking of things I did with records making them sound like the cartoon characters Chipmunks, hehe. Thanks for sharing you put me in a reminiscing mood now. Trust me I needed it first day back to work today in quite some time.

It was a great place indeed and you should have seen the happiness and joy on their face.
Lol, imagine kids or even adults using these radio bikes on the streets, what a nightmare it would be 😂

Wow, first day at work, that is always brutal. You need a distraction to get through the day 😁

Thanks, you and a few others have provided that distraction. I could not help but to smile throughout this article. I miss boom boxes I still have a few cassette tapes, hehe. Yesterday I was the most exhausted maybe some of it was knowing I had to work the next day, lol.

I only have some CDs, those are history too already. Cassettes are long gone. Looking back to those times 🤦‍♀️😁

I'm here to help you get through the day. Maybe I can message your boss to let him know you need some rest 😂, let the others load those planes.

Hello dear friend @erikah good afternoon
What beautiful activities for the children, they sure have had a lot of fun with all the games that were prepared for fun.
Popping bubbles is one of the oldest games in the world, or at least here in my city it has always been done, my grandparents, my parents, my generation, my children and now my grandchildren have done it
I loved the photographs, the event seemed great to me, especially the motto, which instills in children not to litter
I appreciate that you have shared these beautiful and funny photographs
have a beautiful evening

Indeed, you rarely see kids these days so enthusiastic, unless it's a video game or something on the internet. But these kids had the time of their life it seemed. Popping bubbles will be my game from now on, just need to buy a device to do it.

Have a nice day @jlufer.

What a delightful journey through the cultural festival and the activities that brought joy to both kids and adults! Your post beautifully captured the essence of the event. The image of the little girl chasing bubbles with such politeness and curiosity is heartwarming. It's these moments that truly make such festivals special. Your description of the interactive games and creative activities paints a vivid picture of the fun-filled day. Kudos to the organizers for fostering such a vibrant and engaging environment. Your storytelling truly transported me to the scene, and I can imagine the smiles and laughter echoing throughout. Thank you for sharing this wonderful experience! 🎈🌟

You know, what I saw overall was heart warming. You did not see one kid to throw tantrums, or shout or misbehave. All of them were polite and focused on the tsk in hand. It was great to see them enjoying the event.

I just hope such event s can be organized worldwide as it would benefit the kids greatly.

Good job to the organizers of that activity because the kids really had fun. I love those big bubbles too, that little girl really had so much fun.

It is good that event like this exist. I think it would be great if from time to time children can also engage in hands on activities. I would help their social skill!

Definitely. I've seen plenty of activities organized by museums this summer for kids of all ages. It helps them develop a lot.

These are some great photos, Erikah. I love the soap bubble shots. Especially the thumbnail. Absolutely beautiful!

A lot of the games I see here are pretty strange to me. Except the soap bubbles of course. I think almost everyone has played some sort of soap bubbles game.

People around here have an improvised version of that last game- the barefoot-jumping game. They just draw up the carpet on the group and jump on the floor itself. That game forms one of the core memories for kids around here, especially girls.

Thank you @depressedfuckup. Those soap bubble shots are a miracle as I had no idea if I can capture them well or at least to be half decent photos.

The last game is played here too, by kids, they draw the frame on the asphalt and jump. But here the main idea was to massage the foot. Again, we're back to the topic 😂

By the way, I have ordered a pair of crazy acupuncture, massage slippers, made of wood and stones. I think I'm going to cry each day for 5 minutes, if I can resist 5 minutes, but it'll be healthy for my foot. Maybe I'll do a post about it. Coming from China (obviously), so it's going to take some time.

How nice the activities are for the children, they are always full of so much joy. I loved each of the pictures with the soap bubbles, especially the first one, it brings back such good memories of playing with them, haha.

Lol, looks like everyone has played with soap bubbles when they were kids. It was a lot of fun. I'm going to buy a device and play again. Must be relaxing.

I have also tried the bubble maker many times but I have never been able to make such big bubbles.

Have you used bog hooks like the man on the photo? I think it depends a lot on those hooks and maybe the soap as well.

Hooks were not used, it is possible that big bubbles were not formed because of the hooks. Next time I'll try the hooks.

A place is looking nice and kids are enjoying like anything. A public gathering is little more but overall looks great.

This was so cool. I really liked the creativity in the games and events. The fact that they were physically active too was great. It is possible this big kid might have joined in on some of the games😀.

I'm really glad to hear you liked it, it was cool indeed.

It is possible this big kid might have joined in on some of the games😀.

Lol, I can see you pedaling for music. Imagine if your TV or internet would be fueled by pedaling, how many calories we would be burning and we would not hang out on the internet all day 😂

I might pedal for food🤣. Yes, it would definitely take care of some of the sedentary and overweight issues we have here.

There is, or was a jail here in in the United States, I believe it is Arizona, where the prisoners are in tent cities and have TVs powered by bicycles. To watch the TV someone has to be pedaling all the time.

Wow how nice putting all of these together without any fee, it is really nice. I love the bubbles. I also plan on getting a bubble gun I don’t know if that’s the name but the bubbles provided are usually smaller and plenty.

I’m sure everyone present had lots of fun.

Yesterday I had a look online and you can buy from a simple tube with a hook (you know, the old tool), to sophisticated and expensive guns, anything you want. However, I don't need a fancy one, I'm ok with the cheapest, that costs 1€. Just need time to go buy it.

Ohhh okay, I don’t know how much it cost here in my country but I will check it out on pre order.

Wow! These are quite interesting games 😀. I hope to recreate some of those fun activities over here too. I admire the way the organizers introduced new games and activities to captivate the interest of those kids. Indeed, there is no end to creativity if we are willing to be innovative.
Thank you for taking time to describe each activity in detail. Your clear photos also helped in giving an immersive experience. By the way, the activity I find most interesting is crafting. However, it's a pity no one bothered with the board games, especially since such games help develop critical thinking skills.

I don't know where you live, but I agree with you. Would be fun to create such an event worldwide as i think all the kids in the world would love it.

No one was playing with the board game at the time of my visit, but I'm sure there were some who checked it out. This festival lasted 3 days, so there was plenty of time.

I live in Nigeria and I also believe kids all over the world would enjoy those games. My favourite board games are chess, draughts (checkers) and monopoly. Ludo and scrabble are quite popular over here too but I am not adept at playing them.

I had my first 'bubble' experience 2 months ago and I have to say it's really beautiful. At first you might think it's dedicated to kids but then you realize we all still have a small kid hidden inside us and this kind of shows are literally for anyone no matter the age

Those little bubble makers we had when we were kids are indeed for kids, but this one is not. This one needs some skills and strength too, so I agree, this activity is literally for anyone no matter the age, maybe with a different tool, but the activity is for everyone. It's a lot of fun 😃
