Back To Black And White

(Edited)

It's time for a monochrome or black and white photo post as part of my learning process. Now that spring is here, or almost over, it's easy to forget about black and white photos. However, when it comes to architecture, it's the best choice in my humble opinion.

This week I went to do another photo shoot, premeditated one, targeting this structure that I love so much.

It's a wooden structure that covers some archeological founding and the design of it is fantastic in my eyes.

I was lucky to have a nice weather, the sun was shining, which means there was shadow on the ground as well. However, the surface not being straight, took away the possibility of taking some nice shadow photos.

Next to this structure, there's a dome, that is used as conference room and hosts different events. Being so close made my job a bit harder as taking photos from that side was out of the question. This is why I tried to find some nice angles. I'm not sure if I did a good job or not, I'll let you be the judge of that.

I was wondering if I'm the only weirdo here, who likes this structure so much. If you're reading my post, let me know in a comment, if you find it special or boring. I would really appreciate it.

This was a good angle that allowed me to capture not only the whole structure, but the shadows as well.

This is the front of the structure, that serves to protect the craftsman's studio that dates back to 1750. Now just to be clear, the wooden structure you see here is newish, is not from 1750 as no wood resist that much in the open air. What it is below is from 1750. The place can be seen from outside only, as there's a gate that protects the entrance. Would have been nice to be able to visit the place inside, but I also understand the need to luck it up as so many people can't understand and appreciate what out ancestors left to us and commit vandalism.

I think I'm going to have a problem with these images. Some, if not all, look much darker after I upload them on PeakD. Would be terrible, so I hope it's just some temporary thing, but I guess we shall see.

So apart capturing this beauty, my other goal was to practice holding the camera steady and this is one of the photos I'm proud of. That photo is not straightened and the 4th line from the bottom matches the top of the bricks perfectly. I need more practice, I know that, but it's doable, in time I can definitely be better at this.

This image looks extremely dark right now, when I'm drafting my post, so I need to cross my fingers and hope it's going to be ok after posting. Would be disappointed if it wouldn't.

This is it for today. Let's see how the post looks like after publishing.

Edit after publishing: yes, some images are way darker than before uploading them here, which is disappointing, but I have no idea what the problem is and definitely don't know how to fix it.

It is strange to see steel rivets in a wooden structure. which are typical for steel arched structures. It looks great against the backdrop of clouds :)

I consider Black and white should not be used always, but it depends on the place, inharmonicity on colors, and elements around. I saw these picture, and immediately I thought that Black and White looks like great.

We all have our preferences. Some like it, others don't and that ok.
