Back To Internal Stairs, Or The Figuring Out Game

This was an exhibition of a single artist and the pieces exhibited have been created over decades. The exhibition was named Internal Stairs and the artist who created these works is Gyöngyi Kerekes.

It was one of the strangest exhibition I've been to, because I don't think I understood much. The works had no title, I mean they had a collective title, but other than that, everything was left to the viewer to figure out and to be honest, you can't understand much from a painting like the one you see on the photo above. Or I'm the only one failing to understand what the artist meant. I admit it, no shame it that.

Now I'm not saying I understand this, but it seems more likable to me than the others, due to the geometrical shapes and colors.

These works are called The Search Of Balance.

Improvisations

I've been to this gallery several times and know its capabilities, which are limited obviously, but this time the organizers came up with this idea to set up these wooden boards in the middle of the room and hang the artworks on them. I loved the idea as it gives the artworks a nice, natural looking background, breaks reflection as well as the light comes from above, but ... there's always a but. If they would have paid a bit more attention to symmetry and lines, would have been way better, for me.

Book Of Changes

Abstract art for abstract fans.

I like abstract and am able to appreciate it most of the times, but this is a bit far from my taste.

As I mentioned before, I don't go to openings, because you can't take photos when there's a crowd, but sometimes I wish I were there to listen to what the artist has to say about their artworks. It would help me understand better what was the idea behind the creation.

In this case I wish I would have been there.

This was where I paused for a minute. Not that I started to understand something, but because I liked the paining at the bottom. Those blue shades, paired with the yellow background looked good in my eyes. White or other color may not have given the painting any advantage, but this pale yellow is a perfect match in my opinion.

Now let me know if you found one that you like or if you can figure out what the artist meant with these artworks. I'm curious to see what's your opinion on these paintings. Don't be shy, there are no wrong answers here :)

It's good if you can see some meaning in them.

Using contrasting colors together, maybe we can say how different and variable the life journeys that the artist has designed in his mind can be. By using the colors yellow and red simply and plainly in only a few paintings, he may have shown that he had spruce up and had responsibilities in certain periods.

I think those who are much into art are the ones who always understand and find a connection with art, I always adore the picture without understanding what it means lol.and sometimes I hope to understand cos that will be more exciting

These are some very expressive works, to be sure. But, like you, I don't think I understand the intended message. To me, it looks like the artist has a very playful nature, although I could be way off base.

Erikah, you go to a lot of galleries! The exhibits you post are always interesting.

Are you also an artist yourself? : )

I'm not an artist, I just love art. I think it's interesting to see how artists see the world and how they express their thoughts.
