Back To Photo Exhibitions

Half of the first month of the year is gone already, but it feels like two months for me. Yesterday I went to visit a photo exhibition and today I struggled to remember if it was the first exhibition of the year, or not 😂 I'm getting old. Anyway, I think it was the first one, but definitely not the last one as there are another 3 I'm planning to visit next week and this is just the beginning.

The photos had no title, but I think a title is not needed. All the photos can speak for themselves and you'll see why I say that. This one fr example is a wonderful one, showing what the light means for the old man, no matter how pale it is.

To my surprise, this photo had a title and it was Pure Soul, which is quite accurate, but I would have interpreted a bit differently. I'd say how very little it is needed to be happy at that young age, where this little boy lives. Simple life, full of happiness. They don't know what modern era gadgets are, and that's fine. Happiness is not tied to wealth and having it all. Look at the expression on his face, the light in his eyes, those things are precious.

Sometimes a good angle is enough to take a good photo. Having clear, blue sky doesn't hurt either, and if you have a happy couple, like the old man and his faithful partner, you can take a wonderful photo.

You know what's funny? Old, village people are always smiling. I don't know if you have noticed that, or if you've been around them, but they always do and you know what's interesting? Their smile is genuine. Those smiles are not fake, like those smiles you see on social media platforms. People have learnt to pose for the camera and most of the times their smile is not even a smile, but a a well-practiced grimace that is far from a genuine smile. This is why these smiles you see in these photos are so precious.

Moments of life, a piece of happiness.

I was standing in front of this photo, looking at it doe a couple of minutes and thinking, what a wonderful capture. Then I thought, what do you need to capture such a photo? You need the scene, you need the birds and you also need that orange light and slight mist. I can get the first two, the scene and the birds, but the light and the mist is not an everyday thing. So I guess you have to be in the right place, at the right time to capture such a beautiful scene.

I was wondering if to write something about this photo, or not, but it's too good to just leave it without words. It's one of the best in my eyes for several reasons. The colors for example. Looks at those autumn leaves, laying there like a colorful carpet. But the most important thing you need to notice is that the bear was in a run and it was running towards the photographer. I don't know what's the story behind this photo, where the photographer was standing when he took the shot, but it's absolutely fantastic. Look at those flying leaves under the feet of the bear.

The truth is, my country has a lot of bears roaming around free in the woods all over the mountains. This would not be a problem, but they are lurking around villages and big cities as well already. Going on a trip in the woods is out of the question, unless you're willing to risk your life. I'm constantly getting alerts that the bears are nearby. They are most likely hibernating now, but once spring arrives, those alerts will be regular again. So as much as I would love to capture such a photo, I must admit, I'm not brave enough.

Misty photos are one of my favorites, but unfortunately I have to be ok with watching other photographers' photos as for me to capture such a scene is quite impossible. There's no mist here, if I'm lucky, there are two or three days in November, but last year the mist was not dense enough to take the photo I've been planning for years. This is why I can appreciate photos like this a lot. It's a brilliant one.

Reflections are always amazing, especially if the light is unusual, like on this photo. I love it!

Last, but not least, a winter photo, a lovely one. When it's overcast and snow is covering everything, you can get such a nice shot, if you know where to find a lovely scene.
