Budapest - Part 5 - Random Photos
Today I'm going to post some random photos I took in Budapest, Hungary in July this year.
If you've missed my other posts about Budapest, you can check them out here:
Budapest - Part 1 - Shoes on the Danube Bank
Budapest - Part 2 - West End City Center
Budapest - Part 3 - Parliament, Kossuth Square And Statue
Budapest - Part 4 - The Flag Ceremony
Unfortunately I only had two days to spend there and two days are far from enough to see everything.
The Danube river that divides Budapest and the house of Parliament in the background.
Along with sister-ship ms Thomas Hardy and ms Emily Brontë, the ms Oscar Wilde is one of Riviera River Cruises’ newest riverboats in Europe. Built in 2017, she carries 169 guests and a crew complement of 44. She is named after The Picture of Dorian Gray author Oscar Wilde. source.
Although it was daylight, I managed to take this photo.
Európa Ship is an event ship for weddings, conferences, product demonstrations, exhibitions, banquets, corporate events.
This photo was taken from the car. It's one of the trans that are transporting people in Budapest day by day.
This was a must. I don't know why but I found the bridge architecture very interesting and stylish. The green or teal paint is an excellent idea.
The Parliament building and a ship on the Danube that serves as restaurant and it's called Vénhajó, The Old Ship.
Statue of Baron József Eötvös (3 September 1813 – 2 February 1871), a Hungarian writer and statesman.
Sofitel Budapest Chain Bridge, a 5 star hotel for you if you prefer luxury accommodation.
Although Budapest went through a lot during the was, there are many buildings still that escaped bombings and are still standing. This is one of them. I don't know what it is but it looked good. At the ground level there's a Costa Cafe as I see.
And some fashion boutiques.
Budapest-Nyugati Railway Terminal, or the Western railway station, situated on the Pest side of the city, accessible by tram 4, 6 and metro/underground M3.
The station is functional since opened October 1877.
Hilton Budapest City Hotel, another 5 star hotel for you in case you need one.
There's this fountain in front of the hotel that is has these colorful lights by night. It's a pleasure to watch it.
The metro or underground was a little bit of shock for me. Coming from Vienna, where we had three days to explore the city and use the underground as well, I wasn't expecting this escalator to be so fast. The reason for this is probably to avoid waiting time.
Unfortunately most of the stations were dirty and very noisy.
Most of the stations were crowded too, too crowded.
These people were playing music very loudly. I love music but this was frustrating.
This was at the Deak Square station.
There were info points everywhere, so if you need any information, you can ask these guys.

I've always wanted to travel here. I've never been to Hungary but i want to one day. Would you say that it is less expensive than say, most of the rest of the world even though you were in the big city?
The right answer is "it depends". It depends on what country you are comparing Hungary with.
Unfortunately I've only been to Europe so far but I can tell you Hungary is cheaper than Austria, Germany, The Netherlands or France. We've been to Austria for 4 days then we went to Hungary and I know this for sure.
I hope this helps.
