Charcoal, Paint, Paper And Canvas
Yesterday I showed you some of the artworks I saw at the gallery. There were two artists exhibiting, two totally different style as one of the artists is a painter, the other had mostly, if not all, charcoal drawings.
If you missed my post about the other artworks at the exhibition, you can check it out here.
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - Corn Stalks
I was really impressed with the artist. I've been to a bunch of exhibitions lately and have seen all kinds of artworks, most likely charcoal drawings too, but never one like these. You can draw with charcoal and have a nice drawing, but the details work Dávid Lehel Miholcsa creates is absolutely amazing.
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - Desert
Looking at the drawing, you can see the texture of the artwork, but that is not given by the paper. The paper was a plain paper, what you use when writing for example, not that drawing paper that is textured already. So imagine how good the artist and how meticulous his work is.
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - Armchair I. and Armchair II.
Illustrating an armchair is fine, but I've never expected to see two drawings side by side, of the same object, in a different style. The idea is brilliant. I need to mention these drawings were quite big, maybe 2m tall. I love it.
Imola Szilágyi - Silver Darkness
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - Wire Mesh
I'm really curious what you think of this one. If you're able to see what it means at all. You most likely have seen wire mesh fences and sometimes, when time deteriorates it, or evil hands have nothing better to do, this is how one end looks like. Now imagine the paper is white and the artist had to draw the background and leave the wire white. I love it! Again, these pieces are quite big, one must have had 1m height.
Imola Szilágyi - Atmospheres II.
I was a bit confused about this to be honest.
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - Desert II.
Imola Szilágyi - Drapery III.
This is a series of paintings, all called Drapery. I was a bit confused about this too. As you know, the canvas has a wide edge that has been left unpainted. But the truth is, the painted part is not a regular rectangle, the upper line is not straight. Is it intentional? I don't know.
Imola Szilágyi - Drapery V.
Imola Szilágyi - Drapery VI.
The exhibited artworks at the upper floor were a bit different from the artworks on the ground floor.
Imola Szilágyi - Atmospheres III.
I did not understand this one, unfortunately.
Imola Szilágyi - Drapery I.
Imola Szilágyi - Drapery II.
This series was spread quite well as not only were pieces of it on both floors, but those were also not in chronological order. Was it intentional or just happened by chance? I don't know. Is it better to place the pieces of a series one after the other? I suppose it depends. If the pieces have a connection between them, of follow a sequence of theme, then yes. Otherwise random is fine.
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - No Title
Now this is interesting. I suppose for the base, the artist covered the paper like you see in the bottom half, then, using a paper or a fabric, he did the upper side. In any case, it's a nice way to illustrate contrast. I think life sometimes it's like that, half like this, half like that.
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - Horizon
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - Lines
Dávid Lehel Miholcsa - Horizon II.
Imola Szilágyi - Abstract
This abstract was one of my favorites. I'd say, if I were to pick one, maybe this would have been the one. I loved the colors a lot.
Almost lastly, there was a series of 3 pieces, featuring some wood pieces. Two were under glass, so I did what I could, but the third was without glass.
At first I thought it's linocut, but I don't think it is. At a closer look, I think this is charcoal drawing too. My wood addiction helped me learn a lot about cut wood and I can testify that this is an excellent drawing. The other two too. The paper I think it's handmade, this was not like the usual paper sheet, this was a textured one and good quality. Well, if you ask me, this is a masterpiece. Those hairline fractures where the branches grew just testify how good the artist is. I really liked these.
Imola Szilágyi - Interpretation (Rodin)
I love this! Love how the artist only used different shades of green> I love Rodin, his works and his life story, even though it's not a happy one. However, it motivates you and gives you strength to never give up.
I left this photo to the end, because I love the scene. There was that old chair in front of that painting. I don't know why, who put it there, but the scene itself is an artwork in my opinion. The chair must be highly uncomfortable as it is made of wood, but I would love to have one. I love the design. Yeah, strange things :)
It was a highly unusual exhibition, but a very interesting one for me. I liked the artworks a lot. It's true, there were a few confusing, but I liked the majority. Pairing up a painter with a charcoal artist was an excellent idea, no matter how strange it looks. Mixing monochrome charcoal drawings with colorful paintings worked well in this case in my very humble opinion.

Unas pinturas espectaculares
Yes, some are spectacular.
How are you dear friend @erikah good afternoon
It is good that you have had the opportunity to visit art exhibitions, and acquired more knowledge about it.
I could not comment on what style of drawing the artist has used, since I am completely null on the subject, what I can affirm that the works are totally beautiful
I take this opportunity to wish you a splendid weekend
I don't know about the style either as I'm not that smart, but what's important is that I liked quite a few.
Have a nice weekend @jlufer.
Indeed some were confusing, but they were interesting as well.
I agree with you on that.
