Colorful World
Earlier this week I visited a church for a different reason than people usually do. There was an art exhibition organized there and I wanted to see the paintings. I find this initiative a very good one for several reasons. It's starting to spread, I see ore and more churches supporting artists, by exhibiting their artwork for free. This is a huge support for those who are less known and not only. It is also a huge help for visitors as you don't have to pay an entry fee. Most of the time it's an exhibition with sales, so you can book any artwork you like and take it home once the exhibition is over, or even sooner.
The church can have many roles and I'm glad another one has been added, that of promoting art and supporting artists, or being a bridge between artists and those interested in art.
This was a solo exhibition of Lajos Cirjék, a very different one from what you got used to lately. Most of the paintings were landscapes, which is not unusual at all, but somehow what I've seen lately, have been abstracts and others. So it was just about time to see some landscapes as well.
Lights In The Wood
Being a conference room, the light was not what I would need, but that can't take away from the value of the painting. Most likely you'll see what's the characteristics of the artist's style later on, when you see more paintings. For now, let's just mention the lovely light green color, acting like an invite, a path to follow.
Light Behind The Trees
The light green attracts the eye for sure highlights the the part of the wood where the light falls. Nice landscape.
Road To The Valley
This is where things got interesting. When I saw these colors, made me want this painting on my wall. I've mentioned it before that you can buy me with a good green and blue combination and the darker sky here and the strong green looks amazing. The place looks very calm as well. It's definitely a scene that makes you want to be there.
Tower In The Valley
This was another painting that held me captive for the colors. I can't say I'm a huge fan of vivid or strong colors, but these colors are perfectly matching my taste. Most likely it reminds me of my grandparents' place, although it looks different.
Farm In The Valley
I'm not going to mention the blue and green colors again as you already know. What I want to point out here is what I mentioned at the beginning of my post. The characteristics of the artist's style. Look at the brushstrokes. It's not exactly common, but not unique either. However, I find it interesting and like it. Most of the paintings are painted with these brushstrokes.
Similar scene as before, but just as lovely as the previous on. What this painting tells me is calmness.
Landscape
This is a scene you can see in some of the villages, rambling fences, old houses with a small farm. Although this painting reminds me of the difficult life village people have, it's still wonderful in my eyes. I'm not going to mention the colors as you already know.
Village in the Valley
There's this game I'm playing at almost all the exhibitions. Even though I know I'm not going to buy any of the artworks, still I'm asking myself which of the artworks I would like to buy, keeping in mind that space is very limited. This narrows my action down s I could only select a couple, or maybe three per total, not per exhibition. I would definitely consider this, for the colors, which is funny because the sky and the mountains here are purplish. I don't like purple, but this color looks great with the trees and the light green grass. I think you need a lot of talent and experience to get the colors so perfectly. However, we have different tastes, so what I consider perfect, might not even look interesting to you. Regardless, i would be happy with this one.
September Forest
Another wonderful one. What's interesting here is the colors again. September is the month when forests start to turn brown, red, yellow and do on, yet her you see blue in the background, which highlights the green more.
This was a lovely exhibition that made me think if I'm changing, or the artist used some colors to fit my taste. Honestly, I could choose a few from here. What about you?

If you asked me to go with you for an art exhibition some years back, I would just ignore you because why would I go somewhere to watch people display art when I can just buy one and put it in my room.
Funny enough, my perspective has totally changed now. I just love the whole idea of an art exhibition because here in Ghana, you get to interact with the owners of the art.
I particularly love the colour combination of the last painting- September forest.
Art is much more than that and it's also not for everyone. There are so many people without any interest regarding art and that's fine. Also, I think this comes with a certain age. You have to grow up to it.

If I were you, I would have bought the fifth,6th and 7th number of art. The seven number remind me my country village.
Maybe you can visit an art gallery around you one of these days.

Maybe I will take the road to the valley painting since it was the common way I made my drawing back in elementary school, the only difference, he made it a lot of beautiful than what I used to make, even up until today, my drawing skill is still can't be found. hahah
Lol, I understand why you take that. It's indeed a common scene, but as you say, much more beautifully executed than what we did in school.
It's like telling us to go back to the provinces we all came from. And yes, those strokes look not very unique, but also unusual. Guess that's how they capture the wind brushing so well.
I don't know what's the reason behind those brushstrokes but I like it a lot. I'm not against it.

Very nice selection, although I'm less of a fan of this style of painting, which for some reason makes me feel nostalgic.
There's happy nostalgia and sad nostalgia. Here, it's sad nostalgia I'm feeling. But I can't say why.
In any case, in an exhibition, it's very beautiful to see and very interesting. But I wouldn't put these photos in my living room, unless I wanted to fall into a depression.
Mind you, nothing I say is intended to be unkind. I realize that as I write these lines. No, I think these paintings are really beautiful. It's just that they evoke a feeling I don't particularly like. I can't even tell exactly if it's "sad nostalgia". The more I look at them, the more I get the impression that it's loneliness, regret and a feeling of the end of life.
I'll tell you why. Most likely we see the passed time and think of those family members who maybe lived like this and are not with us anymore. I may be wrong, but I think this is on reason.
Exactly! Because this lifestyle is on its way of extinction. I understand what you mean and don't worry as we all have to choose what makes us feel happy and not sad. It's the same with music. If it makes you sad, it's not for you.

Completely, but then I also like sad things sometimes. Mainly because I think it helps me to have a stronger bond with the artist.
You always have a stronger bond with others when you're sad.
I like Village in the Valley and Tower In The Valley but I think Road To The Valley is my favorite. Because I also like the colors better, the blues and greens.
Personally, I like this type of painting more, landscaping and portraits, Abstract art is so subjective that sometimes it seems absurd to me. This type of painting reminds many of us of those road trips in which we see those houses and imagine life there. or it brings us memories of a family member who lives in the country, what a good initiative by the church to use its spaces for an art exhibition.
