Frozen World

For a couple of weeks now I've been posting about how beautiful autumn really is. My goal has been to capture all the beauty this season has to offer and share it with the world as there are parts of the world where there's no autumn. I've gotten a lot of nice feedback and can imagine what it means to see these photos and not be able to see it in person.

I've been trying to absorb the colors and the nice view of autumn, to keep me happy during the cold and gloomy months that are coming as I knew this wonderful Indian Summer wont last forever.

The day has some as this morning we woke up to a light mist and frost. I love frost as it's a very good occasion to take some photos and also a rare occasion as we don't have it too often. Basically it happens one or two times during winter and lasts a couple of hours as when the day starts to warm us, frost disappears.

Last year I was able to capture frost during a photo shoot and shared my photos in Stock Photos so you can use them for free if you need some.

Lucky me, I had some fee time in the morning so I hurried to take some photos before frost disappears.

I can't even begin to tell you how lucky I am. Look at this photo. The internet is full of similar photos and every time I see one I can't stop thinking of how fake it is. You know photographers are capable of everything to get the job done and to get paid for it, therefore using paint, artificial snow and what not, is not uncommon at all. Everything for a good cause, right?

That was my first thought when I saw these poor little roses. You may think the same looking at my photos.

Right after that, my heart started aching and literally felt sorry for these roses. I know it's a risk every year, but even so, to freeze to death is not something anyone should experience, regardless of being a human being or just a plant.

Most of the roses are gone, so I'd like to think this is an isolated case and would be nice to be right as it's really heartbreaking.

The frost is already gone, tomorrow morning we may get another round but it is not certain. It depends if the weather will be foggy or not. Right now it's fuggy, which indicates it will be foggy in the morning.

Before the frost, these roses looked pretty great. Now after freezing to death during the last couple of nights, I suppose they are going to turn brown and die.

For me this is the first time I was able to capture frosty roses and even though my heart was aching, I was also glad I was there to take these photos.

As I said before I usually find these photos you see on the internet cheesy as there are staged and here I am, sharing frosty rose photos myself. However, these are 100% natural, authentic :)

Have you ever seen frozen roses in real life?
