Funny Nature

Yesterday I was supposed to go do a photo shoot, but it was raining all day and was so dark you'd have thought it's evening already. Rain should not happen in January, show should be dominating, but it looks like this winter is similar to the last one, if not even warmer.

We haven't had snow yet, if you don't count a day and a half, in which snow was mixed with rain and melted almost instantly, making slush on the streets. A good soak is always good as drought is very common, especially during the summer, but we should have snow during winter. Yet, we had +15°C temperatures this week. Needless to say, this is totally off and can confuse plants big time.

Today on the other hand was nice and sunny, so on my way to where I was going, I tried to find some nice things and took a few shots.

These poor trees stand naked now and I still remember how they used to look, when full of nice green leaves.

Now you can really see how old they are, by looking at those curvy branches. I have always loved looking at the naked branches when the sky is this blue.

The city is trimming them every single year, so a part of what you see here will most likely cut in a month or two.

When I see these old trees I'm always trying to imagine how they got certain scars and how those have affected the trees.

Like this one for example. It is clearly not a side branch cut but can't figure out what it is.

I did not capture the upper part but made me angry just by looking at it. There were two pushpins in the bark, which had absolutely no business there. I hate it when people use trees as billboard. These people should be fined.

And I have found this. It looked so interesting, that I had to go round and look at it to see how this has happened but could not find any indication where it has possibly started. It's like someone has taken a branch and has wrapped it around the tree.

This is a shot from the other side, suggesting even less of what might have happened to it. Nature is mysterious.

And here's my favorite scene. Every time I'm passing by this place I have to stop and look at it. This is a wall on the street that had a door once. I suppose it must have been a door as for a window it is placed too low. It is covered now and when the trees are green, you don't even notice it, but I know it's there and always taking photos. I guess I'm getting old as I'm always thinking of what life must have been back when this door was still a door.

And the ivy is still lovely. I don't know how can resist through the winter as all the other lives are long brown, dry and dead. I suspect the ivy is the only one that is thriving.
