Made With Love By Tiny Hands

Christmas is maybe the most liked vent of the year. Kids love it because they are always in the center of attention, they are the ones getting the most gifts. Decorating a Christmas tree is always a lot of fun, it's an occasion to show creativity as even though you may be putting up the same decorations, you can use them in a different way.

But what if the Christmas decorations are not the old one bought from the shops? What if you can create your own decorations using whatever you can?

There's a tradition in my city. Every year there are elementary schools, preparing Christmas decorations, which are displayed for the public. In past years the exhibition has been hosted by a mall, but this year (possibly due to covid), the exhibition moved outside and it is in the open, which makes it more fun.

These are not the shiny decorations you would buy from the shops and most likely you would not put them on your Christmas tree, but if you know who made them and how these were made, you would definitely look at them with different eyes.

This snowman was made using artificial snow ball made of foam, the nose is an orange bead and you can see how uneven are the black buttons, which means it was made by some tiny hands with less experience.

Life has changed a lot in the last 30 years, you can buy anything from the shops now, order things from the other end of the world, there are no limits. Yet, the best presents and decorations are the handmade ones.

Kids need to learn to create gifts and decorations as well. This is fun activity as well as helps them develop some skills they can use later in life.

I was amazed how many interesting and funny decorations I've seen. This is definitely one of them, not a usual one.

The best thing about these is that none of them is perfect. Each one has some mistakes, but who cares? That's what makes them so adorable.

This snowman for example was made by using wooden discs, white paint and some other accessories. I don't know about you but I love it, would put it on my Christmas tree any day. Maybe next year I can make my own as I know where to buy what it is needed for it.

This is a less successful piece, but still love it.

20211229_102338a.jpg

Sometimes you don't need much, only a piece of paper, a stencil, some strings and you can create something fun.

Creativity went overboard here, but this angel is still funny and cute as well.

How would you describe this angel? 😄

In my Christmas post I wrote about how my grandmother used to put painted walnuts on the tree as back in her day there were no Christmas decorations nor money to buy any. I was happy to see these walnuts here.

This angel must have seen better days and I bet she was pretty on Christmas eve, but this is an open air exhibition and there were some heavy rains since then and her make-up is not waterproof, unfortunately.

Gingerbread man made of some plastic, as there's no Christmas without gingerbread.

An angel with paper dress and wooden head.

Another snowman made of plastic bottle caps.

As you can see, creativity has no limits, you can do a lot with very little. Not to mention you can reuse, repurpose everything.

Dried grapefruit, which I love. There were orange slices too.

Another favorite of mine, featuring an orange, stabbed with cloves.

It was a lot of fun to look at and take photos of these lovely decorations. Imagine what the kids have felt during creating these and how proud they must have been knowing their work is exhibited for everyone to see. I hope this tradition will be kept going as it is important.

So, which one is your favorite?

Without a doubt these are the most tender ornaments that I have seen for sure made with a lot of love.

I agree with you on that. I'm always taking photos of these handmade ones as there's always something to learn from them.

I like the fluffy angel the best!! Love them all. You know my Mum STILL puts the angel I made 45 years ago on top of the tree? The one time she didn't, I was away, and she put a lovely store bought angel there.. much classier. She felt so guilty she put mine back up 😂😂😂 I can attest that your kids will always feel so valued for you celebrating them by putting their decorations up!! 🌺⛄🎄💖

I am always attracted by unfiltered pre adult human creations. In other words before the brain gets flooded by expediency. Have a wonderful 2022 :)

Aw all of them are adorable! Kids can be so creative and I love the idea of putting more earth friendly decorations in the tree . Painted walnuts decorations...well that was new for me, but now that you mention it , it totally makes sense. The wooden version of a kinder egg minus the chocolate lol

Lol, you're really creative. I would have never associated the walnut with the kinder egg 😄

And yes, we agree, it is important to teach kids to create new things and also let their imagination free. That is how you raise the next generation of artists.

Hahaha CreativeMary is therefore the perfect depiction for my mind. I always find strange associations as my mind fuels me with many ideas lol. Just last night I had such a creative dream I woke up smiling wishing it was real hahahaha. I thought that maybe someone who is a chocolatier could make walnut-like chocolate decorations with a real caramelized nut inside....gosh those would be delicious🥰🥰

I like the idea of a new generations of artists. And I say this because in Romania many wanted to raise generations of lawyers, doctors, engineers etc and artists were almost always left behind. And art...well art is in pretty much everything and we need more of that as a nation's capacity to dream reflects a superior intelligence.

It is 31'st of december so...happy New Year and a beautiful 2022🤗

What you've described here is totally doable. I wanted to get into creating chocolate and praline a few years ago as it is a wonderful activity, but you have to sacrifice a lot actually as it is not cheap, plus those calories 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Who knows, maybe one day your wish will come true 😍

Thank you for those nice comments, I wish you a very Happy New Year and a wonderful 2022😘🤗

Don't forget to have fun! 🎉🍹
