Photo Practice

Slowly it comes the day when the only two option I will have regarding photography will be black and white and macro. Not only days are getting shorter and shorter, the sun becomes a rarity as well. This morning we woke up to a thick fog, which is not usual here, but there are a few foggy days each November. I'm not sure is we're experiencing those days already, or this is just a coincidence though. After a few hours the sun came out, which was the clear indicator to get myself out of the house and go take some photos.

In a way I don't mind as I've been planning to get better at both categories and now that there's nothing left, I can make the most of it and that's what I did today. I went to get my parcel and in the way there and back, kept my eyes open and took some photos, half of which I deleted when I came home. Yes, hat's right, a little breeze can mess with you big time. Good thing we're working digitally, so you don't have to waste rolls of films and end up with nothing because none of the shots were good enough.

Today my only goal was to take clear photos, nothing more. Dry flowers and leaves are available still at this time of the year and as roses are quite resistant to the cold (at least these are), you can still find buds and half dried ones too.

To give you an idea about what happened today, I took like 5 - 6 shots of everything, while the breeze was working against me. This means of those 5 - 6 photos one is usable, or two. But to look at the bright side, there's only one dry rose that I can't post as all the photos are blurry.

I'm really curious to see how these photos would look once the post is posted on Hive. I don't know if you've noticed, but photos are always bigger on Hive and I love that.

I took 15 shots of this leaf and if I want to be honest, maybe 3 are usable. I wanted to capture the first part of the leaf, that is rolled upwards, with the macro lens. It seemed like a good idea. You may wonder why I had to take 15 shots and what the others look like as it seems obsessive. So let me show you some of the other shots.

This was not because I could not focus on the subject, of my hand was shaking. It is frustrating but funny as well.

This leaf has found its place here.

Then I saw this leaf, with those puncture marks, looking like eyes. Too bad there was no symmetry there, but maybe that is a good thing. I'm calling this the leaf with eyes 👀.

Now look at these two photos. You see the same leaf, but the photos are taken with different lenses. The first is the regular lens, the second is with the macro lens. I need to mention that these leaves are tiny.
