Playing With The Camera At The Mall

Yesterday I visited a shopping mall, as I wrote in my previous post and took a lot of photos. Some of them are already posted and I kept a few for today. From architectural point of view, the interior construction is very interesting. At first I thought I would be able to take some cool shots, framing them right and do all the things right, but as you may already know, I was stopped by security and was told photographing is not allowed. I did what I could but still not what I would wanted to.

This was a jewelry store, selling gold and silver jewelry. Although I'm not addicted to jewelry, I wanted to see what the silver jewelry they had to offer looked like. Maybe it's not really clear how big the shop is, but it's big. So I went in, stayed for 5 minutes, looked at what they had, can't say I could find anything that impressed me, so I left.

Any escalator is a good subject to photograph, if you have time and know what angles to use. I took some of the photos in the move, I thought there's nothing to lose. if I get a couple of good shots ok, if not, I can always delete them.

20230327_102123a.jpg

There was this dining and wining area, that looked extremely good, so I took a few shots, just could not decide which one is better, the color version or the monochrome.

20230327_102123a1.jpg

So I'm posting both and let you decide if you like any.

Here I put my phone on the railing and tried different angles.

20230327_102425a.jpg

This was an interesting series. I took this photo because of the Famous Waffles and I took a few more, to see which one will be better. After checking them out on my laptop saw what I captured.

20230327_102427a.jpg

20230327_102428a.jpg

So I don't know what's happened there, but judging from the face expression of the two, something was not right. It was interesting to capture these moments. I don't know if you can see what I see, but for me this was interesting. I could call this series moments of life.

20230327_102751a.jpg

20230327_102819a.jpg

I just keep thinking how many good photos I could have taken there, exploring different angles, the light and so on.

20230327_102915a.jpg

Then I took some photos on the way down.

20230327_103001a.jpg

This was another jewelry shop, that looked interesting, but this was where security approached me and my plan to explore different angles was cancelled. I put my phone away and that was all.

Looking back, I took a few good shots, but it's not my place to evaluate my work. I know I did the best I could, now looking at the photos I know where and what could I have done better. If you learn something of the experience, that means your day was not wasted. In conclusion, I'm just realizing how lucky I was, first because I went there early and the place was empty and secondly, because I could take these photos. Maybe another time, in another place I can take more photos.

Now I'll let you decide if you like any of the shots.

I remember once I didn’t want to believe that you did not read or practice professional photography anywhere, but you said you take pictures just like everyone and it’s not a rocket science.

Look at these ones🥹 I’m not even sure which one is less beautiful, the colored or the black and white 🤦🏿‍♂️ every picture is absolutely incredible

I still say it's not rocket science and I am using my mobile phone which is not high end either. It takes a bit of time to position the canera right and capture what you want the best way you can, but it's possible. I'm sure others takes 100 times better photos, but we're all learning.

Start practicing and you'll see results 🙂. With the digital cameras we have today, practicing costs nothing.

You have good photos, I loved them and the only bad thing is that they didn't let you photograph more places, in some centers they tend to be like that, but well, what can be done in the end we are not the owners 🥰🥰

The pictures are all beautiful and very creative.
I can see a story coming out from them already.

Very good photos, it is seen that there were few people at that time

Yes, I went before noon to avoid the crowd. You can't take photos when people are all over the place.

Malls are great for photography. Beautiful symmetrical lines are found everywhere. Glass surfaces, colors, reflective surfaces, beautiful shapes and textures in the merchandize, people and food.

I could not agree more. Perfect place if you want some nice photos.

I think of the two photos you mentioned, the color one is better because I can see the city in the background better. In the other one, that part seems to be very dull. I can say you did a good job despite all the difficulties and the prohibition 😂.

Nice!

shooting in Mono has brought a whole different perspective to the shopping mall. Love the escalator one

Thank you! Indeed, mono is the best if you want to focus on details. The escalator was a great place, too bad I had no more possibility to experiment there.

That first shot is framed perfectly. Look at how nice those lines align on the left side of the image! Nice work on the others too!

Thank you for the appreciation.! I tried my best but also had to straighten the image a bit at home. I liked that one a lot. It was a nice experience and I hope I can get another chance somewhere else.

Those two staff of the famous waffles seems have problem, might be something was fallen and broken or spill. Hopefully they are now okay.

I also like the picture of the escalator, the angle where you are at the top capturing the whole stairs

Smiles, why did security approach you? Do they think that you are trying to spy and plant a bomb?

Seeing the escalator reminds me of the last time I went to a mall. I don't know how to use an escalator, but I have worked with a company that repairs elevators and escalators before—I worked with them for two years—and I still have a slight fear of escalators 😅😂

Yeah, most likely I looks like a common criminal.

I don't know how to use an escalator

You just step on it and go up or down. Then you watch how you get off so you don't fall and knock your teeth out 😂. It's not difficult at all.

I think I find it more difficult to step on it than to get off. The last time I used it, I almost fell on the escalator 😂

😂😂😂 Oh God! What would you do at a big international airport, like Schiphol Airport (It is the world's third busiest airport by international passenger traffic in 2021), where you get on one, then another one, then another one and you have to carry a troller as well, or two. I made 10 minutes from one gate to another and had to go ups and down a bunch of escalators and also had to use the moving walkway as well 😂.

There have to be stairs or elevators 😂😂😂... Or I would face my fears and ask someone to help me out anytime I want to climb an escalator.

I'll tell you a secret. You stand at the escalator for 2 minutes, look at how people are doing and you copy them. That's not considered plagiarism. 😂😂😂
And man up! Face your fear 🤣 (elevators are for disabled and old people, mostly)

What a great place.

And I love your quality photography as always.

I notice in myself that I learn from reading your post.

I feel honored to hear that, so thank you for the nice words. I do what I can as I'm just an amateur.

Thanks for stopping by and have a nice weekend.

A great amateur photographer who applies the rules of photography very well. Therefore, as I am also an amateur, I see in you an example to try to improve without getting frustrated in comparison with professional photographers who have incredible works.
