Portraits And Moments Of Life

Shooting portraits has never been my thing as I'm not a photographer, I only take photos for my own entertainment and then share them on Hive. However, I have a huge admiration for those who are good at portraits. It's not an easy task as you have to find your model, adjust the light, find a good angle and so on. This is why I love portraits at every exhibitions.

At the last one there were quite a few, of the same category, village people to be more precise. This is an interesting category as their portrait can tell you their life story, if you know how to read the photos.

With A Beard And A Hat

We have a few guys on Hive, who have similar beard, but none of them is this old as this man. Back in those days when this man was young, having a mustache and a beard was a must. Now don't get me wrong, it wasn't mandatory as in Afghanistan, but it was recommended.

However, the beard is not the only thing that makes this photo precious. They say every wrinkle has a story and it's true as every event leaves a mark on your face. The other thing you should notice is the smile. These people have lived a simple, but difficult life, have worked all their lives, they don't have wealth, but they are happy. They know how to appreciate what thy have and enjoy simple things.

Whether

Black clothes, headscarf, walking stick and a thousands of wrinkles. That's how old village ladies look like.

This is a funny one. The Hungarian title is Neked kuss!, which translated to English means You shut up!

In the meantime I have to mention, I loved that the photos were printed out on a crispy, not shiny paper and there was no glass cover, which made my job easy.

Góbé is a Hungarian word for men from the Székely Land in Romania and this man looks like one.

Taste This

Maturated homemade cheese, which worth as much as gold for them. These people are living in a farm, they are self-sufficient so they produce their own food.

The Only Toy

This is actually heartbreaking. How many times I've seen village kids playing with a single toy and how many times they don't even have a toy. That's when creativity kicks in and they create their own toy. Most of the times these poor kids are happier than those who have everything and were born with silver spoon in their mouth.

Peek A Boo
I hope one day I can capture moments like this.

The Musician

I've never had the occasion to photograph musicians, but I know it's not easy. Imagine a few of them on the stage, all of them moving all the time. But this photo is great.

And this is where my happy life ended as these were already under glass :(.

You know what's funny? Going to a photography exhibition to admire the great photos that are exhibited, then struggling to take decent photos 😂. Yeah, that is what I do. It's frustrating, but in the meantime it's a fun game as it forces you to be creative.

I love those portraits , it is one of the genres that I enjoy the most , my favorite are those who are taken in the streets in more natural ways just like in this exhibition you have brought to share with us , they are really beautiful

I like portraits too but taking photos of people without their consent is becoming dangerous these days. These portraits were indeed excellent.

Yes in the street you have to be careful always , have to read the people, if they don't like it just leave them, continue with other, nothing can be forced . When I do street photos here I always try to be polite , talk and smile to the people, if I can take the picture with out the notice me better if they do it, I show them the photos and introduce my self , most of them get relaxing

You're lucky then as here people are suspicious and you can get into trouble. A bunch of punks shouted at me one in Germany. I was pretending I did not hear them, lucky me, they were too lazy, or too drunk to come after me.
