Surprise At The Art Gallery

Yesterday I went to a new exhibition, that was planned way before it started. All I knew was the artist's name and that was all. Not knowing what to expect makes you have no expectations and if you don't have expectations, you can't get disappointed. Simple as that.

One quick look in the room was enough to know I'm going to see some amazing paintings and trust me, my first impression was not wrong.

The artist's name was Mária Schneller and after going through her paintings, at some point I realized it was not the first time I was seeing her works, but more about this later.

Artist Holding A Triangle Mirror

I had to take a close up photo of the head, for you to see how life like this painting was. Look at the facial features. The other thing I loved about this painting was the kind of neutral background, so the eye would focus on the man. In my pinion, the colors are perfect here. I can't tell you the measures of the painting, but this was quite big. Must have been one meter tall, at least.

Same model, same high quality and precision in execution. These two paintings have already convinced me of the value of the artist, but at that point I did not know who she was.

Morning Ox Field

Over the years I have learnt to pay attention to frames as well and after visiting so many exhibitions, I have quite a few preferences and a lot more that I don't like. This is one of the frames I would prefer. I love the color, the thickness of the frame is perfect for the size of the painting. I love it. Another option that would go well with this painting would be a wider frame and a lighter color.

Landscape

I liked this one too. Not so much the green frame, but it's not bad, I could get used to it.

Tangled Branches

This was the other painting I loved. I looked at it thinking, it would be nice to be there, to enjoy the silence and the fresh air. This was also a big painting.

Walking Along Secrets

This was the painting that I already saw at the previous exhibition and loved it a lot. I remember I stood in front of it and tried to imagine myself walking along the river.

Apple Tree

I think this was the painting at which I started thinking why I like these artworks so much. Looking back, I think it was the color combination the painter used, but the style as well.

Driftwood In The River

This was another nice one I loved, but contrary to the title, what I noticed first was the reflection. The water worked like a mirror here and I even tried to figure out if the reflections are rightly painted. We don't know if the painter painted this photo at the scene, or used a photo as reference, or she painted it from memory. In the first two cases she would have had the reflection in front of her, but when you're painting from memory, it's a bit more difficult.

I hope you liked the paintings as much as I did.

Erikah, the paintings are beautiful. And the selection of the frames is part of the curatorial activity, attention should be paid to it, but this often depends on the quality of the art curator. Or simply on how he or she has felt about the work. The same goes for the arrangement of them in the room, and the feet of works (I do not know if it is correct to say so).

This artist knows what she is looking for in each brushstroke. She transmits a lot of peace in her works. And there is a mixture of styles that catches my attention.

Let's see, how would you define her work? In what style would you frame it?

I think the framing is the artist's job. If I were them, I would never let anyone frame my paintings, unless I only ship the canvas, but that's not what happened here. Arranging the room is indeed the curator's job, unless the artist wants to do it themself. I was asked once to help set up an exhibition and I can tell you, it was a fun, but demanding job as we had to find the perfect place for each painting and make then have the best light.

I don't know how I would define this artist's work, or if I would frame it in any style. I just enjoy what I see :)

Yes, you are absolutely right. It is the artist who selects the frames. But I was thinking when it comes to mounting an exhibition, sometimes the two can do it too. If the artist wants to. I mean, if she decides lean on the curator's opinion.
I think she has a great impressionist influence, because she captures the instant, gives prominence to light, a lot of nature and outdoor landscapes, I think she paints what she sees at first glance... I don't know, these are some of the things I see.
I am not an expert. It would be necessary to see if there is something else there.

Saludos y lindo día, aquí llueve.

These paintings caught my attention. They reminded me a bit of French impressionism

Beautiful collection of landscapes painting, This has been the style that has caught my attention the most, I have always said that if one day I start painting pictures they will be of nature landscapes, I imagine them something like these, (but with much less talent hahaha, as a novice)

Lol, I would love to be able to paint half as good as this lady, but that's not going to happen. I rather see myself drawing, but as I don't have talent in drawing either, it's just for fun.

An excellent way to mix two different essences of art that complement each other, I used to paint before but I decided to go down the path of photography for reasons of time, I loved your photos, excellent work.
