The Takers
My mom always used to say "if you just take and take, without ever putting anything back, one day there will be nothing left to take". She used to say this to us, to prepare us for the big life that was expecting us, as adults. She had many sayings like this and even though it wasn't yesterday, I still remember many of them and I'm thankful to her.
PeakD has an amazing feature which is the notification and reminder of new proposals, so you can take action. This week such a notification popped up on my screen about a new proposal, so I went to check it out as knew nothing about the proposal owner. Since then, both the post and the proposal were deleted and removed, so don't go look for it, but I'll tell you briefly what it was about.

Someone who allegedly has been doing some dev works for Hive, which is amazing (he got paid for it by the way), thought asking for $2k funding from DHF, to buy a laptop was a good idea. The funny thing is, the user has been on Hive for 9 years and the proposal was written to make you understand no laptop, no work. Kind of like a blackmail to me and not only to me.
Living off Hive is not new, so many have been and are sill doing it. Over the years I've seen so many users from countries where a few dollars can buy quite a lot, think they can get rich by blogging. Those dreams are long gone as reality has kicked in and when the price of a toke goes from $3.4 to $0.06, you need to wake up and realize you won't be a millionaire this way, especially if you follow the path of this person.

Some of them think using some shortcuts could help you achieve more and this is when you see them posting about their life problems, like grandma needs new glasses, so funds needed is $100. Next time mom got her documents stolen, funds needed is $50 and so on. All this while they post about boat trips and eating sushi in a country where you don't even have the basics, inflation is sky rocketing and electricity is rare like a white crow.
Everyone is given the same chance on Hive. Free account, no investment asked and you can grow your account if you're serious about it, like so many here have been doing. Don't get me wrong, this guy did everything he could, I have to give him that. He was caught plagiarizing, then he was part of the Vibe scandal, then he posted a bunch of test comments, which would not be a problem as one has to test the app they are working on, but he thought why not upvote these spam comments and make some money. Then came the laptop proposal.

The funny thing is, that it's possible to get a laptop funded on Hive, it's not unprecedented, we had a case, but a very different one. A few years ago the community came together to help someone who lost everything, was on the streets with no money, no food, no shelter and no hope to even get a roof over their head for the night. It's possible, but not for everyone. This is a good community with a lot of good people, who are ready to help, if you deserve it.
It seems like the DHF has become (or has been, to be precise) the milking cow for so many and even though the community has voiced its opinion against it, the process of changing how things are done is slow (I'm trying to choose my words elegantly here). We've been throwing money out of the window for years, by funding projects that are pure waste of money. Accountability seems to be a word in the dictionary and nothing more. In any normal company these project managers would not only have been fired but sued as well for damages, but that's a story for another day.

This "grab what you can an run" mentality can only take you so far and too bad people don't see or don't want to see the meaning of building. You have the chance to treat your Hive account as a saving account, grow it to have when the time comes, but it's easier to just walk the selfish path and help no one but yourself.

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone

If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years

I am unaware of this person. My impression of the DHF is that it is useless for small projects or for recouping costs of donated work. And, unless someone is financially able to donate their time, simply charging for costs makes no sense. I was frankly shocked when I read a post that put developers in a bad light as taking advantage of the financed visionaries. Is this the dominant culture here?
Developers find themselves having coded themselves out of work. When I first took off coding, it was in response to being given administrative tasks. I multiplied the effort of the users, and I viewed my job as to make my job obsolete: you code solutions to repetitive work; you don't code lock-in and dependency.
Development became commoditized and automated in its own right, and now we find ourselves in a conundrum where our past accomplishments do not earn royalties and the need for our skillset as a commodity is diminished.

I was flabberghasted when I read that proposal, but to be totally honest, I was not shocked in the slightest.
Just look at the DHF, the amount of HBD that is given away on a daily basis is absolutely mindboggling.
As a Projects Manager the lack of project controls and accountability is truly mindboggling, it really is no wonder that HIVE token just keeps sliding, out of the top 1000 next with the amount of HIVE that the DHF takers take ... I am sorry but I pretty much only vote the return proposal until there is some proper accountability and use of funds going on.
