Visiting An Amazing Exhibition At The Art Nouveau Gallery

Art is part of our life and I must admit, without art, our life would be much poorer. Art exhibitions are everywhere, paintings, sculptures, textile art, you name it, but not every art exhibition offers you the same sensation.

Visiting An Amazing Exhibition At The Art Nouveau Gallery.jpg

Last week I went to see an exhibition and to be honest, I had no idea what to expect. The artist's name was Ioan Tâmăian, Romanian artist unknown to me till now. The name of the exhibition was The Roof Of The Universe and poster said it's glass and metal, which is more than vague. I did not mind as this is the typical case, when you don't have expectations, which can lead to nice surprises, instead of disappointment.

Fascinating and delicate, the art of glassblowing is fire craftwork by nature. It is fluid and hot tumult, transparency and flames, intensity and fragility, and last but not least, versatility. It is playing with fire, a game and a pact with lava altogether, domination and fluid modeling ... It is the art where craftsmanship, technique and concept are the essential mix. source

The exhibition is taking place at the ground floor of the Palace of Culture in Targu Mures, in the Art Nouveau gallery, which is in the city center, easy to access from anywhere. Unfortunately the Palace was undergoing some renovation works and was all covered, so there was no possibility of taking a decent photo.

When I saw the first artwork, I knew right away that it's going to be amazing and I'm about to see something unique and what I've never seen before. The artworks are indeed a mix of glass and metal.

If I were to use one word to describe the artworks, that would be lace and I'm telling you now, right at the beginning, maybe you're going to see it too.

20220923_112123a.jpg

Most of the artworks were not labeled, which made my job more harder, but the artworks should speak for themselves. I tried to take close-up photos for you to see what they are made of and focus on the details as well.

While I was having a close look of this gorgeous woman body, dressed in lace, I was thinking how do the two material go together. I mean glass is sensitive to heat, metal as well but in a different way.

20220923_112217a.jpg

This is a bowl or vase or whatever you want to call it, made of nice blue glass, coated with a nice metal decoration, that could illustrate humans, but I'm not sure.

20220923_112242(0)a.jpg

As you can see, so far all of the artworks are a mix of glass and metal, mostly glass covered by metal.

When I entered the art gallery and saw the first artwork, I was amazed, I said wow, I'd love to have this. Then moving forward I said the same thing at the second one and pretty much almost at every artwork :)

This one however is the one I'd gladly accept. I'm not saying buy as I kind of know it would cost me a couple of thousands of $ 😬

20220923_112341a.jpg

Look at the details! It's absolutely gorgeous!

20220923_112357a.jpg

20220923_112439a.jpg

This is definitely not my style, would not want it, but as an artwork, it's interesting.

20220923_112518a.jpg

Another skinny worrier, with wings this time and I love this one too.

20220923_112528a.jpg

Look at the feathers on his wings.

20220923_112556a.jpg

20220923_112656a.jpg

This is a bit different from what I've shown previously. Seems to be a big egg, but not just any egg.

20220923_112707a.jpg

20220923_112736a.jpg

The second room had something else to offer, something different. There were no warriors here, but there was this lady, with glass hair.

20220923_112749a.jpg

I'm not saying it's fine art, but I find it very interesting.

20220923_112803a.jpg

20220923_112813a.jpg

And here comes my absolute favorite, the mannequin, as the label says. I find the concept interesting and the details fascinating.

20220923_112828a.jpg

20220923_112844a.jpg

This is the back part. Even more beautiful.

So the mannequin is split in two halves. I suppose any human mind would try to imagine how it would look put together, as a whole and sine we're talking about the whole, I imagine the artist could have made a glass body and coat it with metal, yet he has created this beauty, which I'm grateful for as I think it's lovely.

The 3 ladies as i call this piece, although the artist may have a different name for it.

I've always loved those statues that had oxidation and were green because of it. I saw oxidation here and for me, it makes the artwork more interesting.

20220923_113120a.jpg

20220923_113142a.jpg

This was called The Twins and it's very expressive in my opinion. I can understand the artist perfectly.

As I have mentioned at the beginning of my post, I've never seen such and exhibition, but I'm glad I was able to visit as it's one of a kind.

So, which artwork is your favorite? Do you like any of these?

Excellent is this exhibition that takes place on the ground floor of the Palace of Culture of Targu Mures, in the Art Nouveau gallery, with very striking works, certainly it had been a long time since I saw something so important and beautiful, despite the fact that the stage was in remodeling Culture is my passion, thank you for your publication, it is very culturally significant. @erikah Successes from Venezuela

I really like the style of the work, all the metals are full of details and the contrast with the glass makes it a great work, thanks for these photos where you can see all the details.

I think you have hit the bullseye with "lace". I can see it, too. Absolutely beautiful pieces of art. I'd love to have the manachin. Maybe that says something about our choices? I can't help but think "roof of the universe" has something to do with the interlaced style of art and the materials used (which need all elements of earth to put together)

I think you have hit the bullseye with "lace". I can see it, too.

I think that was my subconscious speaking for a good reason. The lace is so obvious.

On the other had, I had no time to think about the title of the exhibition, but now that you mention it, it makes sense.

I wish I could buy the mannequin, but I would need a nice room for that and I'm not at the stage to afford it. I mean there are more important things to allocate funds to 😃 However, I'm glad you liked it.

I couldn't agree with you more. This kind of art is not something I've ever tried, but I would be glad to participate in a workshop, to see how it's done.

Nowadays it seems like there is nothing to surprise people but this way to combine glad and metal and create such unique sculpture is incredible, especially to come to such idea. The works of Ioan Tâmăian have something that has a style of ancient masters, I do not know how much he is known to the rest of world but I am sure that everyone would love what he is doing.
