Where To Spend Your Money And Time

avatar
(Edited)

Most likely you don't need any advice on that but I'd like to invite you to take a tour with me in a place where you can do both in the same time. Obviously spending time and money implies you have both. Anyway, yesterday I made a trip to visit the shopping center that is situated at the outskirts of Targu Mures.

20230327_100346a.jpg

20230327_100351a.jpg

I'm not the one to live my life in these shopping centers, eating, watching movies and shopping like crazy all day every day (I wish I had the time though), but once in a while it's ok to have some fun. So today I'm going to show you a place where you can spend all your money and time.

It is called Shopping City and as far as I know it's the biggest in Targu Mures. You can get there by car or there are a few busses that can drop you there and also pick you up to take you in the city.

20230327_100401(0)a.jpg

It has a huge parking lot, so finding an empty lot can be difficult only at nights I suppose.

20230327_100421a.jpg

Right at the entrance there's an area for relaxing, most likely to smoke as well as indoor smoking is prohibited in my country.

20230327_100441a.jpg

20230327_100445a.jpg

The architecture may differ a bit from what you see in the major European cities and this one has only one level, but you can find most of the brand boutiques here as well.

20230327_100509(0)a.jpg

When you have so many shops in one place, visiting all of them is not an option. It was no my intention anyway, so I tried to take into inventory the shops lined up on both sides.

20230327_100524a.jpg

Banks are always a must, no matter where you go and as we're moving towards a self banking world, ATM's and other boxes offering similar services are always a must. As I'm part of the new ecosystem, was curious to see what those ATM's know. I took a closer photo of the ATM but I'm not going to post it as there was nothing interesting there to see, just the regular operations. I did not lost hope though and continued my journey of discovery.

20230327_100705a.jpg

20230327_100723a.jpg

These selective bins are not new, you see them everywhere and it's a good thing. Behind the bin was a bit of a heaven for those who like sweets. Those barrels were full of goodies. Ok, basically none of them was full as there was a tray on the top that had the sweets and the rest was empty, or served as storage (just guessing), but it looked great.

20230327_100807a.jpg

Two of the major telecommunication companies have representation there. It's possible there are more, but I did not take notes :)

20230327_100902a.jpg

20230327_101728(0)a.jpg

20230327_101701a.jpg

20230327_101810a.jpg

There were a lot of sales, here for example you could get up to 40% off of the prices, which is a huge financial help, if you find what you're looking for.

20230327_101829a.jpg

20230327_101843a.jpg

Pull & Bear is a popular one, well liked.

20230327_101903a.jpg

20230327_101937a.jpg

The top floor is always different from the others and in most of the cases means restaurants, sandwich shops, bars and entertainment.

20230327_102030a.jpg

Here you need to have a lot of self control, otherwise you end up spending a lot of money and eating like a pig. Too bad you can't smell what I had to, passing through.

20230327_102400a.jpg

20230327_102447a.jpg

20230327_102458a.jpg

20230327_102657a.jpg

There's a nice dining area with nice green grass, which is fake by the way. However, you can sit down and have a meal or a drink with your friends and enjoy the atmosphere.

20230327_102535a.jpg

KFC also can't me missing, so obviously I found them there, with their ordering station waiting for customers.

20230327_102725a.jpg

20230327_102813a.jpg

20230327_102557a.jpg

Kids can't be neglected, so there was this huge playground for them, where to spend some time and not worry about parents giving them instructions about how to behave.

20230327_102611a.jpg

20230327_102622a.jpg

This was a playground for bigger kids.

20230327_102048a.jpg

20230327_102108a.jpg

Another area for bigger kids.

So as you can see, you can lose yourself here and your money as well, if you have some.

20230327_102315a.jpg

You can take some photos here and there's a cinema as well.

20230327_102413(0)a.jpg

However, the story does not end here. After taking some photos up here, I headed downstairs thinking of checking out some of the stores. When I god down the stairs, I was approached by two security guys, who informed me that I'm not allowed to take photos. My first reaction was WTF? 😲 I told them I did not know I'm not allowed to take photos and asked the one speaking to me, where is the sigh about that? Obviously he could not answer my question, he mumbled something like the guys at the entrance should or should not do something, I could not understand what he meant. I did not want to seem disrespectful as he was polite, so I said I'm sorry, i did not know and put my phone away. They most likely watched me the whole time from the control room. The funny thing in this was that this security guy was one head shorter than me, so I had to look down on him, literally. I don't consider myself tall, just average, but this guys was short :)

So what I was looking for the whole time was the crypto ATM. I did not know if they had one, but was expecting to find one as we're in 2023. Finally, I was able to spot it downstairs next to the Carrefour entrance, but could not take any photos after what happened with security. However, I took out my phone and compared the prices. I knew the ATM would give me a way higher price as they have to make some profit as well and they are working like a bank, not like a big exchange like Binance for example, that has volume and can cover the expenses with less. I bought crypto from the ATM before. This time I only checked the selling price of BTC, which was 1000€ higher than on Binance. 😳 Privacy has a price, so if you want to buy some crypto that lands in your cold wallet, bypassing banks and exchanges, this is the price to pay.

Anyway, if you're in the area and want a place to eat or do some shopping, this is definitely a good one.

Lots of space and many things. We have a few giant shopping mall centers in our vicinity, so occasionally we go for a walk. Experience is pretty boring, so in many cases a quick jump back to nature and some grass helps. Have a wonderful day.

It's not my favorite way of passing time either. I either go there to shop or take care of some business, if I have any. I'm not the type to show off and parade there, so I know what you mean :)

Ufff I have had fun with your tour, especially the clothing stores, perfumes, visiting the library, and things for home, I love shopping, walking, eating ice cream, or just sitting in a place to watch the stories of so many people who walk in those big super comfortable infrastructures to do it all in one day including going to the cinema. That's if you have to have self-control with the $$$ lol. Thanks, Erika

I'm glad you liked the tour. I'm sure you would like it in real life too. It's a good shopping center if you like shopping or just hanging out there. Having self control when it comes to spending money is a must, otherwise you end up in debts and become the slave of banks :)

Ptff! Since when are shoppers not allowed to take photos in a shopping mall? That's a new one to me!
🚫📸❌📵🚫

Did you look as if you were staking out the place for a robbery while you snapped up images, sleuthing behind poles, columns, and foliage while wearing dark clothing and incognito sunglasses?
🔎🕵️‍♀️😎💰🔍

Just kidding! Loved your post! Shopping malls and outlet malls are becoming obsolete in the USA. Two of the bigger ones by me closed down @erikah

You know what is funny? Two weeks ago I went to a military exhibition organized by special forces. You can imagine what kind of arsenal was there. You can check my posts. My first question at the gate was, can I take photos? You know what the guy said? Sure!

These shopping centers are full of cameras and security guys on every cornet for on ever 10 meters. Yet, I was told I'm not allowed to take photos. I was open about it, did not try to hide my phone or pull tricks.

Thanks for stopping by my friend and thanks for the tip too 🤗 Have a nice evening.

So today I'm going to show you a place where you can spend all your money and time.

(hahaha) Let´s see. This is the best way you have of telling me to jump off a cliff without a parachute? Ok, perfect.
That mall looks like a spa. So quiet...
That's why I think you'll need to be sweeter because people don't have as much fun there, is so empty that I don't feel like committing monetary suicide without an audience. 😆

😉 Tell me at least I'll have some paranormal experience or contact with aliens. Do they need to do something extreme to fill those spaces, or is it... they don't have any money?

(Sollo bromeo) but what I am about to tell you is no joke 👇

In a neighborhood store in Cuba, they never have anything but when something comes in there are endless lines and we don't need amusement park. The line itself is an amusement park and is suitable for both adults and children. You are even on your feet for so long that it could be considered part of a sports training.

(we have very different realities. It's obvious. hahaha)

This time I only checked the selling price of BTC, which was 1000€ higher than on Binance. 😳

Epic.

Naaah, this mall is full of people, but I went at an hour when there were just a few people as it was still early. Otherwise I would have been photographing people and not the mall.

I wish I could find that funny but I know what you mean, I understand that perfectly. I grew up in communism, so I guess that explains it. I'm really sorry though, that you have no better life there.

I figured it was like that. A quieter time when the mall wasn't crowded. And of course you don't find my comment funny because, let's say it's Cuban... humor. We laugh at our own problems so as not to cry.
All this (my comment) came perhaps because yesterday was my birthday, and I wanted to go buy beers because they were running out here at home. When I got to the store, a staple (detergent) had arrived at the store and there was a hell of a line. You can imagine I couldn't wait not one hour, not half an hour I could wait... to buy beers. And no matter how much I explained to the doorman, he told me I had to wait in line.
So that's it. It was nothing personal with your post, because it really is very good and so are the photos. I'm sorry if I somehow violated your space.
And don't worry, there will always be ways to feel good within so many absurd situations, that have nothing to do with politics. They are things that have to do with the people responsible for the places that are inept.

I think that's what triggered your post for me, a stark contrast between two places. Maybe I should have kept quiet.

No, not at all. I'm glad you commented and you're welcome to do so anytime you like. I know just a few users from Cuba and the life we life we live is very different so I'm happy to learn about what's going on there.

It is a stark contrast for sure but just think about it. If my country coul achieve this, your country can too.

Thank you very much @erikah. I will be happy to interact with you on the highways of Hive, so you can include me in your list of Cubans.

Of course it is possible.

You did not violated my space and everything is ok. I just wanted to let you know I understand your situation more than others and I've been there, done that. Stayed in endless lines for a piece of something. We also had those stupid jokes, built on out bad situation as there was nothing better left :)

I hope that awful situation will end soon as it can't last forever. Fingers crossed.

Only recognise KFC out of all of those stores except I know Carrefour very well and that would have rather been my option next door to the center.

I did some shopping at Carrefour though, bought some groceries and toiletries. It's a good one as it's huge and you have a variety of products to choose from.

Wow this shopping city is quite huge, I love the dining area with the green grasses is a place where wan can relax after touring round the mall, I also love the packing space and the neatness of the environment is also appealing.
Here in Lagos State most shops in the ShopRite will not allow you take pictures and I don't know the reason behind that so once am there I respect their rules.
Thank you for taking me around shopping city

Well, I've been in one in Paris, that was considered the biggest at that time and was of 130k square meters. I got lost in it every blessing day as had 5 entrances and I never got to exit where I entered. I had to go there to buy groceries as that was the only on in that business center. This is a small one compared to that :)

I also respect the rules as I don't want any trouble, but I'm also glad I could take these photos.

You say 130k square jeezzzz am sure I will get lost in there if I have the opportunity to visit such place.

I took a bunch of pictures in the Mall of America last summer. I did in the morning before most shops were open to avoid crowds in my photos. Did you do the same?

0

Yes, I did the same as taking photos when there's a huge crowd it is a nightmare. I don't like to photograph people as they get offended and I respect their privacy.

I here that Im kind of shy taking pictures around people. I actually did that today at a restaurant and felt really awkward.

BTW I picked up something from the base yesterday that may be of interest. I will take pictures and give you a little back ground.

I only take photos of people from behind and from far. But always with fear. A group of punks were shouting at me years ago in Hamburg, for taking photos of them. I was pretending not to notice but was reading to run 😂 They did not come after me as it was a lazy bunch, sitting on the ground in front of the church.

Photos of that something would be cool and I'd really appreciate it. How come you still go to the base?

This is a great mall, I think I can spend hours here, even without buying anything. I'm surprised you can't take pictures in it. They are quite strict, good thing you had already taken some excellent pictures.

It was a surprise for me too, but I'm always expecting a similar reaction everywhere I go, so my strategy is take photos till you can, then when I'm told I'm not allowed, I say sorry and stop. This way at leas I always have a few photos.

I couldn't agree more. You know, in business a good name everyone remembers easily is key. Plus this is dedicated to those who understand.

Yes, we all know who are the bigger kids, we have a bunch on Hive as well 😂

I do wonder at what time you went to the shopping centre. Guess I never have been in one so empty. I always end up in these places at the most horrible times. so too crowded which does take away the enjoyment.

Lol, deciding on the time of visit was a strategic move 😂. I think it was a bit past 11 or so, as I suspected most of these shops open at 10. If you go in the afternoon, after office hours, all you get is a crowd and in the evening even more. So if you want to take photos, best go when everyone is at the office, if you can.

Wow is all I can say about this shopping city. The building is beautiful and I love it. It's not a place to go when you don't have self control over how you spend money, you definitely gonna empty that account on that day. No reason was given why you shouldn't snap but unknowningly to them you're actually acting like an affiliate to the city and you're advertising their products to people. Your city is beautiful and I love it. Was the security guy that short that you can see the middle of his head while standing with him😂😂😂😂. You damn funny. I love that dinning settings, although everything about the shopping city is amazing. Just hearing about the crypto currency ATM machine and it sounds so nice. Which means people can buy things now with their coin. That's so nice. Thank you for putting down this wonderful blog. I love it

Self control is important in everything you do, besides, these products are interesting when you don't have them at all. If you have what you need, temptation is not really a thing.

The crypto ATM is to buy and sell crypto, not to pay with crypto. However, with my Binance Visa card, that is attached to my Binance account, I can pay for things with crypto. This however is not the same as paying directly with crypto as my currency of choice is converted in local currency. But at least it's possible and it makes paying with crypto easier, till crypto is adopted as payment option.

I had a similar experience with shopping mall security in Kuwait a few years ago.
They asked me to stop filming for no apparent reason?
I was visiting Kuwait as a tourist and tourists take photos etc.

I was kinda baffled by this behaviour until someone else told me that the security were probably worried about potential terrorists scoping the mall out for a future attack!?

Paranoid or what? Maybe they have legitimate concerns?

I waited until the security were gone and started filming again lol. Pretty stupid on my part to be honest.

They could have thrown me into jail. 😂👍🏼

I'm sorry to hear you had a similar experience. It's not nice to be told you're doing something wrong, when there's no way to know it's not allowed. Good thing you got away with it.

I did not want to push it as there were cameras everywhere and most likely they were watching me. However, imagine how many teenagers are taking selfies in there, just to show off on social media platforms. Anyway, I'm glad I could take these photos and learnt how to be more careful next time. Not here though.

Hi Erikah, no need to feel sorry for my experience. I thought they were just being jerks. It really didn't bother me.

Maybe I should have been more cautious in a country that has some questionable practices?

You are right about the teenagers taking selfies. How are they going to control them?

I've filmed in a few crazy countries were just showing a camera can get us in a lot of trouble but I had the confidence of an ignorant tourist to protect me. 😂👍🏼
