MUSIC AND LIFE (MY HUMBLE OPINION)

There is a particular question that keeps ringing in my mind these few days; why do every human that I know love music? In truth, I am yet to meet that one person who will claim to entirely hate music, and that is what I am talking about. There is probably no human who do not love music. Why then is that case? What is so special about this thing called music?

Communities, generations, cultures and even religious societies are characterized by the kind of music they fancy, but the fact that the human person generally admire music is indubitable. Now, what could be the reason behind that? According to Billy Joel, music is in itself healing. It is an explosive expression of humanity, it is something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we are from, everyone loves music. The position of Billy Joel implies that the human person is by his very nature attracted to music. It is that which helps him/her express his/her humanity better. I absolutely agree with him on this one, and I think many people will as well.

I believe that we have at this point established that almost every human person love music. That not withstanding, there are numerous music genre and these genres identify's different personality, culture, occurrences and even religion. In other words, every music is meant to serve a particular purpose. Every music sang is a representation of the singer's story, emotion or even believe. Thus, there are music for different times, people, personalities, places and state, all one need to do is to just play it, there is a music for every moment.

Speaking of music for every places, let us say something brief about music and religion. I do not know so much about Islam and other religion, but as a christian music is very instrumental to our worship. Music for Christians is not just a form of prayer, it is a very powerful [or even most powerful] form of prayer. In fact, many Christians believe that musical praises and worship moves God the most and that he who sings well pray twice.

I do not know so much about Islam, but it is said that there are Islamic movement that prohibits music. Funny enough many of my friends that are Islam definitely do not fall into this category, it could even be the case that many of the Islamic movement over here in Nigeria do not subscribe to that since I am yet to make friend with one single Islam who prohibits music. That aside, to establish that there are Islams that forbids music will call to mind the fact that Islam kind of chat the Quran. Funny enough, Islams do not refer to Quranic recitation as music.

Be it what it may, I still agree with Billy Joel who opined that everyone loves music. I still believe that the human person by the virtue of him/her being human is bound to love music. One must not fancy every form of music that there is, but he/she must be attracted to a particular kind or kinds of music.

Though we have been able to establish the possibility of some religious community that prohibits music, but this prohibition is simply based on the fact that the religion in question prefer not to call her Quranic Chant-like recitation music. The general world on the other hand regards chants of any form as music, it is on this bases that a person who is not really informed about Islam as a religion will refer to such recitations as music. Thus, non Islamic people like us will assert that there is at least a kind of religious music done by Islams who forbids general music. Thus, the fact that everyone loves music is yet to be disproved😜.
