MY MUSIC ROUTINE

I almost picked up a fight with my younger sister after realising a day after that she travelled back to school with my music box. After she asked me for my music box on a Sunday evening, I carefully explained how important it is to me and how I certainly cannot do without it for any reason. It seemed like she never understood. The fact that she disrupted my music routine was really annoying, I couldn't just deal with it. I called her and said some really bad things to her, things I latter regretted. Though what she did was completely wrong, but it certainly was not enough reason for me to say things of such nature to her. She is my only and favourite sister and I had no option than to apologise to her.

To have had a problem with my sister, it must have been something really important, something I certainly cannot do without. As an individual, I have become addicted to playing specific categories of music at specific times. Formerly it was a routine but it gradually became a habit, and then an addiction. I practically cannot do without them at some point, they have became an integral part of being. Waking up that morning to realise that she was gone, along with my music box, it was like she took aways the most valuable of my belonging. I was really angry. For the first time in a very long time, I was unable to play my Christin worship collections for the morning.

When ever I am done with my morning prayers, the first thing I go in search of is my music box. Having arranged my playlists in such a way that it suits my daily routine, the playlist for the morning is no doubt cool worship. Cool worship is the most regular of all of my playlists, I have play most of the song in this playlist every morning [except Sundays] for over a year, yet they are new to my ears each time I play them. I prefer to start my day with calm and gentle worship, and I have assembled the perfect songs for that into cool worship. These set of worship lead through every of my morning duties and get me set for work. As I get to work, a new face begins.

At work, I do not always have time for music, but when I do, I've got the perfect playlists for the day. To ensure that my day never gets bored, I have got about 3 amazing playlist for the day. The mornings are always calm, but the day is determined by the mood I am in at a particular time. With respect to that, I have got different categories of music for what ever mood I might be in, I have got about 3 different playlists for the day. The first of these playlists is special. Special contains mostly R&B, country and few easy going afro beat. There you find the likes of Jonny Drill, Fireboy [at some point], Cobhams and a little of Simi. You will also find Don Williams and a little of Dolly Parton. My second playlist is "lively songs". Though I tagged it lively songs, but you certainly will not find the most of lively Afrobeat there. In lively songs, I've got Afro-Jazz and Afrobeat. Here you find the like of Simi, Teni, Adekule Gold, Fireboy and some others. The last of my playlists is contemporary high-life. High-life is my favourite music genre, and it certainly will be out of place if I do not have a playlist containing my favourite high-lifes. In this playlist, I have the likes of Flavour, a little bit of Timi Dakolo, PC Lapez, the caveman and few others.

After attending to either choir practice, social talk, prayer meeting or any of the evening church activity. It is most likely the case that I will arrive home by 8 pm. Getting back to the house, my music box must have been fully charged since we've got steady power supply at my place of work. Once I arrive home, I will take my bath and pick up my phone. There are always options at night, it is either special or contemporary high-life. Given that I might be carried away by the groove that comes with high-life and fail to focus on my writings on hive, I mostly prefer special for my nights. Night is my most free period, and it is the best time for me to pay attention to my hive account. As I do what ever I do on my hive account for the night, I allow music keep me company. Once I am about to sleep, I turn off my music box, plug it on my power bank and get it ready for the day to come.
