Abortion Is NOT A Human Right!

It was bound to come to this, eventually I was going to speak my mind on the abortion debate with the recent changes to Roe v. Wade. Now, I've already shared my views on abortion before in a video a LONG time ago, probably 6 years ago, I think. Yet, my views have been a bit revised.

Let's start off with some basic ethical positions surrounding the debate:

  • Do you believe abortion is a human right?
No. Abortion is NOT a human right.

  • Do you generally believe in bodily autonomy? (Yes/No)
    Yes.

  • Is an embryo or a fetus a human?
A human embryo and a human fetus is a developing human offspring; Yes, they are human.

  • Is it wrong to kill a human, when not attacked?
    Yes.

  • Is a fetus/embryo in the womb attacking its mother?
Moralistically, no. Biologically, the fetus or embryo does require nutrients to survive which they do take from their mother. A necessary part to the creation of beings that will be later adult humans.

  • Should a mother be forced to raise a child conceived from rape or incest?
    No.

These are all very important questions that one must ask themselves. Now, my view on abortion and my final verdict on the matter is that I am pro-choice for people who want to get them, but I want them to be as informed as possible about the human life they are killing. Regardless, if I think abortion is morally wrong, I still do not believe the government should force women to keep a baby. Although, I generally lean conservative on the matter, I am pro-choice.

Is abortion a deal-breaker for me when it comes to political matters? Absolutely not. For me, there are more pressing issues, but I think a general lean towards freedom and education goes a long way to find a moral balance. Morally, I do NOT support abortions as a contraceptive. Most abortions are wrong, morally and ethically.

Finally, when the line is drawn, the face of an opponent becomes clear.
" The best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity. "
Given the warm winds now presently active, no law or issue is left to lie still; everything debated hotly, every single question strikes a chord. One worthless, the other precious.
If you could choose a friend, one that is reliable like steel or one that bends, wavers with every wind and trend and fashion of the world?
We have our rainbow colored friends who chant love love but they are anything but. And men who stand firm in the face of it all, a man apart from the dimming tide.
