Reaching Goal is NOT the Happiness

We are wired to dream about the future. And we are always thinking about reaching the goal and thinking of life in better ways. You can say that you would reach happiness this way as per your wired programming. But that is not how it works.

You dream of something you achieve it and then the new goal gets created. And so the happiness becomes another goalpost for chase and things just keep on moving ahead.

In turn this is more or less a cycle which kind of makes it harder for you to reach the happiness. You have to work on your everyday life in such way that you don't get bored and tired in the process. In that context, we are going to discuss how the reaching goal is just a process and form of a journey and not the destination itself.

So today we are going to discuss how reaching one goal is not going to lead to the happiness.

Goal is Temporary

I want to be an engineer and I become one. But did that made me happy? yes for some time. But then another goal pops up. And then things keep on moving ahead. Goal just became part of the process and there was no destination of any type. It just kept me going from one point to another.

It just could not made me happy in any way at all. So I thought I should be aware of the fact that how the goals and the dreams are temporary part of the process and destination is always changing.

Goal Changes with Time

You wanted to be something in 20s and then 30s you would want something different from the life. And that goal keeps on changing. You would not realize that goal is going to be reaching and then you would feel like not meeting the final goal of your life.

You would realize that with time everything changes and your focus and the direction should change too. And that would be something we have to plan on building as our life goes ahead. In big scheme of things we don't know how that would work though. So we learn from surrounding.

Goals are Personal

My goals are going to be lot different than yours. You may notice that because your progress and the progress of other people and their direction always keeps on changing. We temporary meet each other for some time. And so our goals are also personal and temporary too.

So we have to understand this fact and then build on the top of the same. Some of the time being collective level with goals would get us focused on process too. But at the end of the day life has personal goals and differ for each one of us.

Goals Gives Both Failure and Happiness

Some of the goals we learn to give us happiness. And we learn that some give us misery and failure. Like some goals are going to make it harder to reach. You can't be astraunaut once you get enough age in your life. And you have to change career direction to do so.

Unlike rich people, we can't get those space trip that easily. So yeah based on this you can realize that happiness and failure comes from the process. How that comes in your life and how it teaches you from both experience is basically a life journey.

Conclusion

A lot of failure and happiness of the life journey changes as we move on from the existing set of the life to another. Nothing remains same in the journey of the life. We have to keep working on the small details of the life in order to go ahead. How we handle it builds up our future actions and the experience sets.

Have you realized the place and value of setting goals? How do you view at life?

Interesting.....I am at the point in my life where I question, just what is my dream? my goal for now? It's not always easy to discern. Looking backwards; I can see that I have achieved many things I set out to do and failed at some too. Life changes your perspective as you get older.

Thanks for sharing the process! Take care!
