Two Christmas Movies I Enjoyed Last Year. || Movies & TV Community Contest.

Last year's Christmas was a wonderful one. I enjoyed it because I was able to travel home to see my family and also I had enough time on my hands to do all kinds of activities. However, in the aspect of films I was totally disappointed because most of the Christmas movies that were released last year were all disasters and messy production. I was not happy at all because I had to rewatch all my old classic Christmas movies.

Although, Two Christmas movies out of last year's productions caught my attention. They both were interesting and entertaining. First I saw The Noel Dairy (2022) and then Falling For Christmas (2022) was recommended to me in this community. I don't know, maybe there are some other Christmas movies that missed out on last year's Christmas, but if there are, I would love to see some recommendations below in the comments. So let's talk about the movies!

The Noel Dairy (2022).

’The Noel Dairy’ is Christmas-themed, and a romantic comedy movie that was based on a novel of the same title which was written by Richard Paul Evans. This movie was directed by Charles Shyer and produced by Timothy O. Johnson. It starred Justin Hartley, Barrett Doss, Essence Atkinson, Bonnie Bedelia and James Remar.

The story line of this centers around a famous bestselling author, Jake Turner who has to reconcile with his past during the festive period. On a fateful day, his mother's lawyer contacted him to let him know that his mother who was mentally ill had passed on and willed her estate to him. So he decided to go back home after 20 years to sort out his mother's properties in the estate.

As he got to the estate, he discovered his mother was a hoarder and he had to find a way to dispose of all her things but then he meets a beautiful young woman, Rachel who told him she was looking for her biological mother who worked as a nanny in Jake's mother's estate who happens to be Jake's nanny.

Jake convinced Rachel to stay so that they can find her biological mother. However, Jake discovered a diary in his mother's estate that detailed Rachel's birth story and then he realized that he had to go look for his father to tell the truth surrounding Rachel's birth. So Rachel and Jake journey to look for his father. Will Rachel find her mother? Will Jake reconcile with his past?

What made me enjoy watching this movie were the two main actors, Justin and Barrett. They both were amazing with their roles. They had strong chemistry that made the transitions into their role seem flawless. Also, the storyline was well written with a little bit of mystery and twist. It is also packed with decent romance that is family friendly.

It was entertaining for me, It felt like I was truly watching a Christmas movie. It captured the spirit of Christmas for me. It is also a 100% Hallmark kind of movie. However, there was one thing I saw as a flaw in this movie, it was the fact that the scriptwriters saw it right to portray in the movie that cheating on your partner or significant other was something cool and good. That was a wrong message to send out to the viewers. Apart from that, it is a movie that would give butterflies in your belly.

Falling For Christmas (2022).

Falling for Christmas’ ruffled my feathers in an annoying way but in the end I loved the movie.

This movie was produced by Brad Krevoy and Michael Damián. It is an American Christmas romantic comedy that was distributed by Netflix. It starred Lindsay Lohan, Chord Overstreet, George Young, Olivia Perez, Alejandra Flores, and Jack Wagner.

The plot of the movie centers around a spoiled heiress who lost her memories when she went skiing with her silly fiancé and a lodge owner who was widowed two years ago took her to safety. Will the heiress regain her memories?

The spoiled heiress was played by Lindsay Lohan. A wonderful actress who I haven't seen on the screen for such long time after I watched her perform in the movie ’The Parents Trap (1998)’. So seeing her in this movie, I was pretty excited to watch the movie but one thing I didn't know was that Lindsay was going to annoy me hehe.

I actually enjoyed this movie a lot because not only did it capture the Christmas spirit, it was also fully packed with moral lessons related to life. It also perfectly portrays the act of kindness in life. The world is a small place, and the person you were brutal or harsh could actually be the person that will see you in the most vulnerable state and you will be needing that person's help.

It is also a movie that explores the themes of Christmas miracles, hope, and the dynamics of life. It was a fun watch for me, the comedy part was decently written but not comedy enough for me. The actors were fantastic in their roles especially the main female character who had to switch between two character personalities. Lindsay was amazing and she was the spotlight of the movie. However, Chord Overstreet didn't have a good chemistry with Lindsay which I don't fault her but blame Chord for his sluggish mannerism.

These Christmas movies are quite interesting and they captured the spirit of Christmas excellently. I would recommend them to anyone.

Have you seen any of the Christmas movies above? If so, how was your experience?

I really like comedy and romance movies and more if it's also about Christmas 🎄 a favorite season. I don't think I've seen either of these two, I'll take them into consideration. Excellent review, very nice work.

Regards.

I think I read the reviews of these movies, just last year, but the truth is I haven't seen them, I'm not much of a Christmas movie watcher, but I'll try to look for them, so I don't get left behind hehe, greetings.
