WEST TO EAST 8

The rumbling sound of thunder, whispers of hundreds of women speaking in Old Norse language, a phoenix-like figure swirling around her, a bright electric red light beaming off her form and eyes glowing bright. Breya had unlocked her aurora and now it time for her to access her magical powers which she was born with. She closed her eyes and conquered her fears, which was the 'destruction of the city by the Wendigos' and in a heartbeat, she tapped into her magical powers. Afterwards, there was a flash of lightning and a loud clap of thunder before Freyja's voice cut through her mind to bring her back to reality.

Breya opened her eyes and discovered that she was back in the military base and in the office where Col. Jason left her and Freyja a few minutes ago.

"Did I do it?" Breya asked Freyja anxiously.

"Yes you did and it is time to begin what you were meant to do" Freyja said looking tired and with a slight smile on her face.

Before Breya could talk, there was a loud bang on the door by one of the army officers.

"Open up! The Wendigos are here and we are surrounded!." the army officer said.

Freyja look at Breya intensely as tears began to gather around eyes she then blinked them away and said, "It is time for me to leave my dear Breya. I am not of this time, not to upset the balance of nature, I have to go." Breya looked confused and nervous.

"Go where? I do not understand. How do I control this magic of mine I have just unlocked? Without you to teach me the ways, I can't do it on my own!" Breya pleaded.

"You can, my dear, because you will have me and the ancestors look after you always. The connection is here." Freyja said as she laid both her hands on Breya's chest.

BANG!

The battle had begun and the military was the last defense of the city. Bombs were going off, gun shots intensified Breya and Freyja heard the screaming of other military officers becoming eminent. Quickly, Breya checked through the blinds of the office and saw chaos. Men and women in uniform being brought to their knees and ripped apart by the monster (The Wendigos) who think they can take over the city.

"What next do I do? People are dying out there!" Breya said.

"Here, take this quickly and place it wherever your hearts leads you" Freyja said as removed the emerald stone attached to her forehead which was also her life source.

Breya took the emerald from Freyja, looked at it and her heart directed her to place it on her chest. As she was about to place it, Freyja began to disintegrate as her remains dissipated into the atmosphere. Breya gasped, "no you can't go like that!" She tried to take Freyja's hands but it was too late. Breya knelt down close to where Freyja's remains were and took a minute of silence.

More screams and struggles came from outside the door. Then she realized, if she didn't stop these monsters, Freyja's sacrifice would have been in vain. Sniffing, Breya took the emerald and placed it right in the middle of her chest. The power of the stone synchronized with hers and a powerful connection was established between her and her ancestors. Having their presence and voices in her mind felt like she was home and felt like she was where she is meant to be.

Breya writhed in pain as her power merged with that of the emerald. Breathing heavily, chest heaving, she began to glow and her transition was magnificent. Breya got up gracefully, with unseen forces rippling around her as a protective shield. She unlocked the door with a single wave of her hand and walked out to end chaos and the destruction the monsters had wrecked on the city. With the power of the Emerald stone flowing through her veins, she was ready to take them down.

As Breya stepped out and saw that one of the Wendigos was about to take a life. Breya thought how could she get to the Wendigo before the deed was done and in a single heartbeat, she sped in a surprise burst of brute speed launching her fist to the Wendigo's jaw which sent the Wendigo crashing through the walls. The Wendigos stood up gracefully in shock and shrieked in anger, alerting the other six Wendigos to Breya presence. The rest shrieked in response to his call and they all came around to surround Breya lurking around her. As they were waiting for the perfect time to launch at her, she ran in a boost of speed, dragging their attention towards the military aircraft hangar to maximize damage to people and properties.

The Wendigos got to the hangar right after Breya got there and launched towards her in a boost of speed surrounding her. As Breya fought for her life one of the Wendigo came around her back and sank his wide sharp fangs into her shoulder. Breya arched her back as she screamed in extreme pain while others were making attempts to rip her apart.

Col Jason noticed Breya needed their help as she was getting swamped up by the Wendigos. "Prepare to launch the grenades!" Col Jason said aloud to the rest of the men and women in uniform left.

"FIRE!" he ordered.

In a heartbeat, grenades were launched.
