| Один день в сентябрьской поездке в Пятигорск мы посвятили соседнему городу Железноводску. В обязательный маршрут прогулки по Железноводску входит великолепная каскадная лестница. | One day on our September trip to Pyatigorsk we dedicated to the neighboring city of Zheleznovodsk. The obligatory route of walking around Zheleznovodsk includes a magnificent cascading staircase. |
| В верхней части она построена в 1936г. Но была тогда в 4 раза меньше, чем сейчас. В этой части много цветников, фонтанов со скульптурами. | The upper part was built in 1936. But then it was 4 times less than now. In this part there are many flower beds, fountains with sculptures. |

| В 2019г. лестницу продлили до озера. Здесь более строгий, лаконичный стиль. | In 2019 the stairs were extended to the lake. Here is a more strict, concise style. |
| И теперь в Железноводске - самая длинная лестница на юге России. Её длина 900 метров. | And now in Zheleznovodsk - the longest staircase in the south of Russia. Its length is 900 meters. |

| В новой части также фонтаны, но их решение – более простое, чем наверху. | There are also fountains in the new part, but their solution is simpler than at the top. |
| Здесь увековечена память великих людей, связанных с курортами Кавказских минеральных вод. Я уже рассказывала о посвященных Лермонтову барельефе и бювете-книге . | Так как мы не очень спортивные, то составили маршрут полегче. Мы подошли к лестнице сверху, чтобы спуститься по ней. 574 ступеньки вниз с остановками для того, чтобы полюбоваться видами и рассмотреть фонтаны, скульптуры и растения вокруг. В таком режиме это было совсем не тяжело. | Since we are not very athletic, we made the route easier. We approached the ladder from above to go down it. 574 steps down with stops to take in the views and view the fountains, sculptures and plants all around. In this mode, it was not difficult at all. |
| Но навстречу нам поднималось довольно много людей. Для их мотивации на ступеньках лестницы прикреплены таблички с цифрами сожженных при подъёме килокалорий. | But a lot of people went in the opposite direction from the bottom up. To motivate them, signs with numbers of kilocalories burned while climbing are attached to the steps of the stairs. |
| Поднимаясь по лестнице, можно было и почитать записки врача Федора Петровича Гааза, исследовавшего местные минеральные воды. | Climbing the stairs, one could also read the notes of the doctor Fyodor Petrovich Gaaz (Friedrich Joseph Haass), who explored the local mineral waters. |

| Мне понравилось архитектурное решение части пролётов этой лестницы ближе к озеру. Пандусы были сделаны не по краю, а по диагонали пролётов. Так они получаются более пологими, а лестница в целом интереснее смотрится. | I liked the architectural design of part of the flights of this staircase closer to the lake. The ramps were made not along the edge, but along the diagonal spans. So they turn out to be more gentle, and the staircase as a whole looks more interesting. |
