WHY THE SEGREGATION (LOH #93)

Good day beautiful ladies of hive and happy new month to us all, I was pleased to be part of this weekly contest #ladiesofhive contest #93 and I will be sharing my opinion on this weekly topic.

I strongly believe what a man can do a woman can also do it be it anything in life, I have seen a woman doing carpentry work, mechanic, furniture etc talk less of military.

In Nigeria politics there are some post they can never give to a woman because men believe that a woman can not rule peacefully in the country, men believe they have total control over the women.

There is a saying that says a woman place is the kitchen, I disagree with that, a woman have a lot of potential in this life, they have there own life to fulfil as a woman and we need to eradicate this though of gender inequalities in our society.

Let me share with us my experience about this topic, when I was giving admission into the university, I choose to study geology, my brothers were saying this is not a female course that I should rather go for computer science or biology but I insisted that I love this geology as a course and I have done so many research about the course before I was giving the admission.

When I went for my documentation, if any one ask me which department and if I open my mouth and tell them geology, they will be saying hmmm you can not survive it as a lady, at first I wanted to have a second thought that I need to change my department this one that everyone is complaining about the department but I said I will see it through.

My first lecture in class, our lecturer was repeating it that we can still change our department because geology is not for a lady and there is this quote in the department that says "NO LADY IN GEOLOGY" Other department see us as another set of human being.

The first field work I attended in my year two we spent three weeks in the bush, without food, we are left with provisions and we do move from one location to the other, that is what got most people to change department that year but I know I will push through because I believe and I know I can do it.

I thank God today because what others or majority can not survive, I survived and came out in flying colors, I was one of the best graduating student in the department despite all the troubles and stress, some of the guys can never withstand the pressure in the department but I came, I saw and I conquer.
