Es un edificio de carácter ecléctico que tiene en su interior curiosas decoraciones como la sala neoárabe. Exteriormente, que es como se puede apreciar en la fotografía, imita un fortín con un muro alto, con garitas en las esquinas y los lados de las puertas.
En 1996 se instaló una comunidad budista que restauró el edificio y creó un museo. El edificio forma parte del Inventario del Patrimonio Arquitectónico de Catalunya.

Su historia se remonta principalmente a finales del siglo XIX, cuando, en 1875, la familia Raventós vendió la antigua masía Plana Novella, además de otras posesiones, a un indiano residente en Cuba.

El terreno fue declarado colonia agrícola por Alfonso XII el 1885. Y las obras de construcción del palacio terminaron el 29 de octubre de 1890.
