This week was straight from Hell. I do not know if I can correctly translate the Greek expression "I am drowning at work", but what has been happening all this time. I was under pressure from the ever-increasing work, along with obligations that were also gradually increasing. I think I was like a pot ready to burst.

Fortunately, on Saturday, my partner took me by the hand - literally - turned off my computer and took me - again literally - out of the house to clear my mind a bit. And after walking a little in the streets of the city, we went to a bar that happened to have live music.

We generally like to try new beers. To discover something new. And fortunately we sat in the right place. The bar was quite up to date with beers and we had a hard time choosing at first (when you have a lot in front of you, you do not know where to start, eh?). In the end, my partner got a classic Czech (he has a weakness for Czech beers), a Primator Weizen

and I on the other hand preferred a Greek one: Septem Mylos 1888: a heretic lager (as written on the bottle).

Forgive me for saying so much about Primator (I honestly think I'm doing it wrong for not writing more about it as t was very good) but Septem (that means seven in Latin) caught up with me. I have mentioned again in a previous post that I love bitter beers and this one had the right taste of the bitterness due to hops that I like, leaving its aftertaste for quite some time. Quite rich taste and foam, all in an aesthetic designed bottle that satisfies both taste and vision.

Notice the details in this sketch! Magnificent!

Apart from the sketch of the traditional mill where the cereals are ground on the side of the bottle, there was also the story of the "Mylos"=Mill, which also named this beer. The story is in Greek - in short it refers to the family watermill that operated since 1888 in Avlonari, on the beautiful -but suffering from fires last summer- island of Evia in Greece.

This beer was released relatively recently by the small but relatively well-known brewery in Greece under the name Septem. They have made great beers, but this was one of the best I have ever tasted. And with only 4.6% alcohol content.

What a pity that I had a lot of work the next day and we could not sit down to try other beers. As soon as I relax a little, now that it is summer, we will have the opportunity.

That was my #beersaturday. How about yours?
Did you have a good time?

Thank you for reading!

Yes, this is one of the best greek beers that I have tasted. But I have to warn you. I like my beers to be on the bitter side. This tastes something like Mamos, if you have tried it.
Cheers, Katerina!
Thank you for stopping by
