When I was very young, I remember telling myself that I was never going to get married, my decision was a result of what I saw in my little environment and corner we lived in back then in mobile barracks. At a such tender age, I knew what pain, and hurt was and knew that the pain from an unfaithful or brutal spouse was worst and I wasn't cut out for all the negative vibes when it came to marriage.

The things I saw in most marriages scared me to wit, so of all the plans I had as a young girl, marriage wasn't part of it

When I finally left that environment, started attending marriages, and got to meet couples who genuinely were in love and happy, I knew my decision was one-sided and I also want to feel what it means to love and be loved.

This weekend was slated for the traditional and church wedding of one of my church members and as a choir, we were asked to go and celebrate with her because the wedding was not conducted in her church but that of her husband-to-be.

Since it is an Orthodox Church, (The Presbyterian Church), their pattern of conducting a wedding is quite different from that of my church.

While some doctrines and patterns kept me in awe, some were fun and meet me unexpectedly because I did not know or understand what they were doing but I was happy witnessing some doctrines different from that of my church. While some of our doctrines meant nothing to them but were important to us, it was vice versa too.

After the church wedding, we left for her hometown, and the traditional right was conducted

Although it was getting late when the groom and the bride were ushered out individually according to our tradition but the whole rites were amazingly fun and epic that left many of us in awe.

The groom and the bride were beautifully and colorfully dressed according to their tradition and their desired colour and their happiness to tie the forever knot was felt by friends and family.

Happy married life to them.
