I could not wait to finish watching this movie so I can do a review on it and I must say the movie is an interesting one although at a point I think the focus of the movie was diverted which made it uninterest for me. Notwithstanding, a 7/10 score will go well for the movie.

About The Movie

Heart of Champions is a 2021 American drama film directed by Michael Mailer, screenplay by Vojin Gjaja. It stars Michael Shannon, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, David James Elliott, and Ash Santos.

The Plot
A year after the Ivy League rowing team lost the national title, the old coach was sacked and a new one was employed. Coach Murphy (Michael Shannon), who was once a student of that school, an old friend to the principal who happens to be Alex's father and an alumnus of the team, was brought in to teach the rowers how to win for the next national title.

Chris gets admitted into the school at that time also and became a team with them although a little withdrawn and never looks like one who likes rowling but had to be there because he was under scholarship. John and Chris became close friends as they were also roommates.

The coach was able to teach them how to row to the end of the coast within five minutes although it seems like an accomplished task but they were finally able to meet up with John as the first man.

Chris meets Nisha at a school party but their meeting did not end well because Chris was drunk and said a lot of nasty things to her which led to Nisha slapping him.

The next day, he was told of what he did and he decided to meet Nisha and ask for her forgiveness. Both became friends and later became lovers.

John who was later picked by the new coach to stand in place of Alex who happens to be the captain of the team, who also was after Sara, John's girlfriend became rivals, and this lead to the death of John.

Alex's father decided that they would not participate since his son would not be participating also and Chris also decided that he would not be participating as John's death affected him more.

The coach who was forced to withdraw meets with Chris and urges him not to give up, he calls the team back and they decided to participate adding two fresher in place of John and Alex.

They won the national title and he goes back to reconcile with his girlfriend Nisha who he broke up with before the death of John.

My Thought

The story is solid, unpredictable, and has meaningful lessons for one to learn most especially in leadership and teamwork aspects

The camera work in some scenes was bad. I think the scenes were more centered on portraying the lessons in teamwork and leadership which kinda covered up the sports drama. in failing to take its advice,

I felt since it was talking more on teamwork and leadership, the scene became uninteresting for me when John died. When the scene of John came, I didn't see any need to watch the movie.
