MASK UP!
On the bus out of town we had an unsettling experience. We have COVID-19 rules regarding passenger expectation due to the pandemic. The front side seats are blocked off and there is now a plastic barrier shielding the driver.
All rides are free to cut down on interactions. everyone must enter and exit at the rear. But most importantly, everyone is supposed to wear a mask. So this female, looking to be maybe late 20's, is waiting at the stop. She has her mask down underneath her chin and the two kids with her, ages 8-10 have no masks on at all.
The deal is, no mask, no entry. So the driver refuses to open the door and motions her to come up near him outside. He points to her face telling her to "mask up." So this witch angrily pulls her limp bandanna over her nose and is allowed in.
That's when the abuse began...
Upon entering, she begins castigating the driver, screaming that its hot outside and he shouldn't be playing with her kids like that, neither of whom have a mask on. After he explains the rules and tells her that by rights he could ban her, but the only reason he didn't was because of the kids. At that point, we hear the most vile and sexually explicit stream of crap come out of her mouth.
The verbal abuse continued with her screaming that she'd love to infect everyone on the bus, while wishing death on him and spewing obscenities. We all turned to look at her in complete disgust. Most drivers would have stopped the bus at the nearest stop and ordered her off, but not him. He played the recordings about the mask policy and the one about profanity, which only made her even more furious.
I honestly believe he kept her on due to the excessive heat and his concern for the kids. After wishing death on everyone, she finally got off in front of McDonald's and blessed silence returned.
People like this endanger everyone around them. These are the type that through wanton recklessness, get infected, yet are asymptomatic yet go on to infect other people. We see so many parents here with no mask on themselves or their children. Our local CVS has a box of them available for free at the front counter, yet they are rarely used.
It seems that the knowledge of someone they know personally who dies of the virus, is the only thing that can change their behavior. My heart goes out to their children. If they don't give a crap about themselves, at least mask up for the kids.
