My Hive Account 1 Year Later...

HIVE ONE YEAR LATER EverNoticeThat httpshive.blogevernoticethat.jpg

We've come a long way over the last year, from the Hive community in general to myself in particular. The crypto winter was a brutal one, and this "shaking of the tree" shone a spotlight on those who bailed on the platform, versus those of us who stayed and kept building.

Due to family obligations being the eldest male and only "responsible" member, I was headed underwater this time a year ago. However, a born fighter almost inured to adversity, I refused to give up.

After all, you're looking at a guy who was swept overboard during a raging storm at night while in the Navy, and was hanging over the waves by two fingers with no help in sight...

You can read all about it in part 1 of: Life is Precious #8 - The Night I Almost Died, Yet Learned To Live... It's a life post which almost nobody read at the time, but that I wanted to get down on the blockchain. It got one comment from @felt-buzz (thanks!) when I posted it three years ago, and I'll always be grateful that at least somebody read it.

Yet I survived...

It's one of the reasons that I rail on social media about the absolute lack of support for our injured and homeless military veterans, while we hand out huge blank checks to other demanding countries and engage in endless wars overseas.

Its time we took care of our own. But that's another subject. Don't get me started... (Deep breaths @EverNoticeThat, deep breaths).

I plotted my Hive comeback and it feels so good to be able to see the slow but steady drip, drip, of tokens refilling a crypto cup that had been empty for far too long.

HBD

I know, its only a few HBD tokens, but you have to compare it to last year when I lost everything just to survive and help others who needed assistance way more than me. It feels so good now to be able to "Transfer to Savings" the HBD that comes in and watch that tiny number keep going up whenever a post pays out.

As Jongo shared in his The Hive Dream post, small or larger amounts saved; it doesn't matter. Just being able to invest in the future is a huge change and a happy outcome from where I used to be.

Because I believe HIVE and HBD are heading way higher in the future, and because of that, what may seem like small amounts right now, have the potential for much more value later.

That's why I envision the potential value of HIVE with a long-term view rather than being buffeted by the short-term swings in prices.

And you should too.

Recovering My Other Tokens As Well

I'm also now happy to report that I've been able to start recovering some of the other tokens that faced a reduction due to the events of one year ago. I can't tell you how great it feels to be able to rebuild towards the levels I had before and watching those DRIPS come in day after day.

I love dividend-generating tokens, and there's nothing better than when a token comes home and brings a buddy along with him.

Seeing those numbers increase with the proceeds from post payouts and the odd fiat-to-HIVE purchases, helps fuel my desire to keep going. All of it adds up to a virtuous cycle that benefits me as well as the community we've decided to build here.

Continue To Build

If I can come back - slow and haltingly as it was - you can too. What's that old saying about doing what you love and it not being work? That's how I feel about Hive.

Every day is an adventure as I try to squeeze in something, a post when I can, a comment, upvote, or re-hive when I can't. It all adds up over time as we continue to build our special little place on the blockchain.

I feel inspired by those who blazed a trail before me and hope to do the same for others. Do you feel it too? :)

No matter what life throws at us, we should learn to never give up but have a reason to continue living. If one can realize the reason he or she should continue living, I don´t think he or she would want to give up and lose all.
Glad you are now recovering after coming back for those long months.
Thanks for sharing this post.

Its been rewarding in other ways as well. With less time available to create posts, I've optimized my workflow, which improved my ability to publish posts in the free time that I have. I'm even more pumped for the future of Hive and can't wait to see where the next five years takes us! :)

This is a pretty terrifying situation to imagine.

I have recently started placing some focus on stacking dividend-generating tokens. My focus right now is on Lgn. Not sure whether I’m making a mistake choosing Lgn over it’s big brother BRO though, since BRO drips LGN after all.

You’re doing really well, man. Was nice reading from you again. Take it easy on yourself out there, fella:)

This is a pretty terrifying situation to imagine.

It was even more terrifying to actually live through it, and relive it again when I wrote it.

Part of it was the sheer exhaustion from everytime the ship tilted and slammed me against the hull. When it tilted left, my feet were flying through the air, when right, my entire body was slammed against the hull of the ship as I held on for dear life with wet hands.

I survied that and came through my own personal "crypto winter" on Hive. Life is good. :)

I can’t imagine what that must’ve been like. I’ve only seen stuff like this in the movies, and even those terrified me.

It’s made you a tougher person though , I’m sure of that much.
