Lumo Light Festival

A pleasant surprise around the darkest time of the year when a light festival filled the city of Oulu with light art installations. The best thing is that you don't even have to wait until the evening, the sunset is at 3pm and it's dark by four.

We didn't walk to all the installations and the pictures don't do justice because most of these had moving lights, and sounds to accompany.

My favourite piece was Matkaaja (Traveller) that was projected onto the Oulu Cathedral wall. It was kinda like a the Martians meets EDM festival meets Northern Finland, aka it was awesome! The visuals were by Janne Ahola and sounds by Tommi Toivonen. I think the whole show was about 5 minutes long and there were a lot of watching it before moving like a heard through the city to view the other pieces.
