Moose Burgers

I got some really special treats for my birthday last month, in the form of moose meat. Extra special since mah man from the north actually hunted the moose himself, and home delivered to me. I swear I’m basically a cave woman at heart...

Anyways, we made super delicious burgers from the ground moose meat. There was so much of it that I ate burgers for three days straight, no regrets. I made marinated red onions for the burgers because moose meat pairs really well with something sweet. Then just add Monterey Jack cheese, simple flavoured mayo, tomato and lettuce. Simple and delicious.

Moose meat really is my favourite and I’ve been craving it since I no longer had an endless supply of it when I moved away from the village I was born in.

I’m pretty sure game-y meats are the most healthiest and definitely most organic sources of meat. Also happen to be super delicious when you know how to cook them. Win-win-win.

Ps. This is a throwback and in reality I’m in bed watching a cooking show and I’m hungry

I've had Buffalo here. Catalina island - about 26 miles of the coast - has wild buffalo herds. The island is mostly empty and they brought them over years ago. I've been out to see them with a friend that lives there. Got right up close! They are big. My relatives in Canada used to hunt moose back in the olden days. I've never tried it though.
