Walking on (thick) Ice
Finally feeling good enough to go for a little walk out in the winter wonderland, though I need to take it real easy.
It’s been a wonderful winter and the lake froze early on, but it’s only now that I’m been able to get to it. There is just something so cool about knowing that you are walking on ice, and not like a field, even though the look pretty much the same when covered in snow.
It’s really cute that there are little trails goind across the lake where people go for walks, commute to work, walk their dogs, ski and some mental cases even bike. On one part of the lake there is a natural ice skating track that is blowed open, and I’d really love going on it but I’m not well enough yet. Maybe later this week.
When I first moved to this city some ten years ago, I lived on the other side of the lake and my school was 5 kilometres away and I walked there almost every day. It was a blessing when winter came because it was faster and more pleasant to cross the lake by walking on ice, rather than over the bridge that always felt windy and long and uphill all the way. Gosh I must have been in great shape back then with all that walking! I do still walk quite a lot but nowhere near as much as back then.
Walking has always been my preferred method for moving, unless it’s a longer trip where you need a car. I’m waiting for the perfect sunlit glittery snow day to go for a proper photo walk, now I’m just lazying with the phone.
Cool
Cool
Oh, those colors of the North in the Winter!
Great to know you are feeling better!
What happened to you if you don't mind me asking?
White, just so much white 😁
Had a high fever for a few days and it really killed me for a bit.
You probably only get a couple hours of daylight there now, too.
Take it easy for now - if that was flu or COVID or something like that, that stuff can be really hard on the heart.
We have 5 hours of daylight now that the days are getting longer, so yeah I’m very deficient on vit D 😅
Not covid, at least the home test said so and I didn’t have any other symptoms.
Yeah that’s why I’m taking it easy, don’t wanna break my heart 😁
where are you located?
Central Finland :)
verry cool! like this coutry!
Is this the North pole?
Sadly not even the arctic circle 😁
