En mi país Venezuela por la diversidad cultural que nos rige la celebración ante la llegada de un bebé puede variar según las tradiciones y costumbres desarrolladas en cada vínculo familiar.
In my country, Venezuela, due to the cultural diversity that governs us, the celebration before the arrival of a baby can vary according to the traditions and customs developed in each family bond.
En primer orden lo que se contempla aparte de sentir la dicha de su gestación y llegada, es ubicarle un nombre si es niño o niña, generalmente son nombres comunes basados en nuestra idiosincrasia influida por la herencia colonial europea y católica que nos antecede aspecto que en algunos casos nos caracteriza a una buena parte de los venezolanos en tener nombres de santos según el calendario o personajes bíblicos.
In the first order what is contemplated apart from feeling the joy of its gestation and arrival, is to give it a name if it is a boy or a girl, generally they are common names based on our idiosyncrasy influenced by the European and Catholic colonial heritage that precedes us, an aspect that in some cases characterizes a good part of Venezuelans in having names of saints according to the calendar or biblical characters.
Esto de los nombres depende mucho de las costumbres familiares y razones hay muchas, casos como: para mantener vivo el legado de algún miembro fallecido, por sucesión de herencia, por ser primogénitos o por el vínculo que se desean seguir prolongando. Por ejemplo hay familias donde los niños llevan la impronta del nombramiento que hace honor al matriarcado o patriarcado que va de generación en generación.
This depends a lot on family customs and there are many reasons, such as: to keep alive the legacy of a deceased member, for inheritance succession, for being first born or for the bond that they wish to continue prolonging. For example, there are families where the children carry the imprint of the name that honors the matriarchy or patriarchy that goes from generation to generation.
He visto familias que asumen un nombre y los extienden al resto de los nacientes haciendo juegos de letras, por ejemplo el padre se llama Antonio y los hijos tienen nombres con esa característica o inician con la letra A: Antonia, Antonella, Antony, Antuan, Antolin, Antero, Atencio, Antonieta…

En los últimos tiempos he escuchado muchos nombres compuestos, creo que es porque en la familia desea prologar su linaje en todos los aspectos algo así como: Roberto (padre) María (Madre) de su unión nació Robmari. Esto es un caso muy sencillo pero hay mucho otros que haces un hibrido de los nombres que terminan siendo complicados para pronunciar y hasta para escribir, y esto lo digo con bases pues como maestra que soy al pasar la lista de los niños en el colegio termino diciéndoles ok “mi cielo”, “mi amor”, “mi niña”. Jajajaja (risas)

En cuanto a las celebraciones para la llegada de los bebés, en los últimos tiempo se ha venido haciendo algo llamado Baby Shower esto es un encuentro de personas que en unión a los padres del próximo bebé, realizan una reunión festiva donde hacen actividades lúdicas y recreativas para acompañar a los futuros progenitores obsequiándoles ropas y accesorios para bebés, en el mejor de los casos se realizan banquetes permitiendo pasar un rato nutrido de afecto y diversión.
As for the celebrations for the arrival of babies, in recent times there has been something called Baby Shower this is a gathering of people who together with the parents of the next baby, make a festive meeting where they make playful and recreational activities to accompany the future parents giving them clothes and accessories for babies, in the best of cases there are banquets allowing to spend a nurturing time of affection and fun.
También en cuanto a las celebraciones es de suma importancia el bautizo del bebé, en principio desde las tradiciones populares se hacen alianzas entre familiares y amigos para realizar una ceremonia muy sencilla dentro del hogar entre padres y padrinos de agua (ésta ya debe ser santiguado por un sacerdote), la madrina tiene en sus manos una vela encendida en simbología de luz y vida para el bebé, y el padrino contiene un vaso de cristal lleno de agua bendita y en un platito un puñito de sal, los cuales haciendo una pequeña pasta con ambos ingredientes y se coloca en la frente del bebé haciéndole la señal de la cruz.

En ese momento los padrinos o un rezandero (a) ofrece la palabras y plegarias santiguando la llegada del bebé al mundo, limpiándolo y alejándolo de toda mala influencia siendo los padrinos testigos y protectores de que se cumpla el bienestar del bebé. Esto es una ceremonia donde generalmente se hacen un encuentro muy íntimo entre los familiares en el que se comparte comidas, bebidas y regalos en un ambiente muy afectivo.
At that moment, the godparents or a "rezandero" (a) offers words and prayers sanctifying the baby's arrival to the world, cleansing it and keeping it away from all bad influences, being the godparents witnesses and protectors of the baby's well being. This is a ceremony where they usually make a very intimate meeting between family members in which they share food, drinks and gifts in a very affectionate atmosphere.
De igual forma para las familias creyentes de la religión católica el bebé es llevado a la iglesia por sus padres y padrinos que pueden ser los que anteriormente mencioné u otros, es cuando decimos tenemos padrinos de agua y de bautizo. Para que el bautizo sea por la iglesia, existen una serie de protocolos incluso financieros ante la sacristía y por su puesto debe ser realizado por un sacerdote, quien según a través de su potestad presenta y consagra al bebé ante Dios, cumpliendo así los padres y padrinos los sacramentos y ofrendas ante la iglesia católica, También de este modo a través de palabras de exhortación del sacerdote se pretende un cambio de conciencia para que se fortifique la alianza entre los presentes para guías el transcurso de vida del bebé.
In the same way for families believing in the catholic religion the baby is taken to the church by his parents and godparents who can be the ones I mentioned before or others, that is when we say we have water godparents and baptism godparents. Siendo así considero que en mi País Venezuela en la primera etapa de vida las celebraciones más importantes ante la llegada de un bebé son la noticia de su gestación, su nombramiento y el bautismo, y lo expreso valiéndome de mi experiencia y lo que conozco de la cultura urbana, pues es donde me he desenvuelto durante 45 años, entendiendo a través de allegados que en los pueblos o zonas rurales aún persisten rituales menos ostentosos y con una visión más ancestral, son comunidades lejos de la capital que mantienen su legado y costumbres.
Thus, I consider that in my country Venezuela in the first stage of life the most important celebrations before the arrival of a baby are the news of its gestation, its naming and the baptism, and I express it using my experience and what I know of the urban culture, because it is where I have developed for 45 years, understanding through relatives that in the villages or rural areas still persist less ostentatious rituals and with a more ancestral vision, they are communities far from the capital that maintain their legacy and customs.
Tengo entendido que hay poblados que antes o después de la llegada el bebé hacen ceremonias en los ríos o el mar y en conjunto con la naturaleza, considero que esto es una expresión de nuestro inconsciente colectivo que de algún modo afloramos y mostramos de forma natural esa cultura generacional milenaria que nos moviliza y hace interactuar sin darnos cuenta.
I understand that there are villages that perform baptisms and ceremonies for babies in the rivers and in conjunction with nature, I believe that this is an imprint embedded in our collective unconscious that somehow we emerge and show in a natural way that generational millennial culture that mobilizes us and makes us interact without realizing it.
