The Reappearance of Rachel Price - Holly Jackson
I finished the book this morning and it was one hell of a ride. I really enjoyed reading this and thinking about what might have happened etc made this such a fun read! I didn't care about Bel or anyone and I found the writing/narration just a bit too stale. Bel was just trying to be SO edgy all the time that I was just wondering if that's her whole personality. I think the whole mystery was developed in a nice way, but Bel being Bel made it tiring. Pace picks up after the 2nd half of the book and since you already know everyone by that time, the book spends less time on useless stuff.
I'll have to say some behaviors defied common logic to me throughout the book, but the overall effect was on point.

Bel's relationship with Ash was just... weird to me. I understand Bel is a very push-and-pull person and that's what she wanted going on with him, but the way she wrote Ash was just... eh. Couldn't really understand him or how he was apparently joking with her too.
The dad being the true culprit was a bit predictable. We ALL noticed his controlling tendencies, but how deep that rabbit hole went... wow. The climax of the story was very intense. The subtle manipulation he did with making them feel crazy was superb. Though abandoning his traumatized kid in a car for 3 hours to visit some woman? I mean, he is probably a psychopath, but damn.
Carter was unexpected twist. For sure I knew she was involved with how they presented it, but didn't expect that!
Rachel... oof. What can one say about Rachel. All the inconsistencies made sense as to how she acted. Honestly, it surprised me more she had so many guts to come back and stay with her killer.
I will say that Bel realized the truth about her dad WAY too fast after that Taco Bell comment. I understand the shock and everything, but basically piecing his entire behavior right away was a bit too much. I also wonder what happened to Sherry at the end, if she managed to pull through with the plan Rachel gave her or if she was stopped along the way by someone and if she reached that town in Canada I really would’ve loved to see her reaction to her husband and brother-in-law not being there but it’s not like she can come back either or tell anyone about it.
